Spotguide Baiersbronn

Baiersbronn is the MTB hotspot in the Black Forest. Here, hikers and mountain bikers are encouraged to ride side by side and countless fantastic singletrail descents have been signposted. Compared to the Alps, these are rather short, but several can be integrated into one tour. This is also the characteristic of many tours in the region: no endless uphill slog, great trails downhill. In this way, most tours in the region can be extended and shortened as desired. Baiersbronn becomes really attractive when the tour radius is extended. Then the entire Murg Valley to Gaggenau is on the horizon to the north and the Kinzig Valley to the south. The Murgtalbahn and the Kinzigtalbahn transport bicycles, which makes great tour combinations possible and makes Baiersbronn an attractive touring center.

Important to know: Baiersbronn borders the Black Forest National Park to the west. Cycling is permitted in the park, but only on the official, signposted routes. There is an explicit ban on biking on all other routes, especially on single trails. Although the trail ban applies in practice throughout Baden-Württemberg due to the two-metre rule, the rangers strictly enforce the regulation in the national park.

Getting there

Arrival by public transport

Public transport to Baiersbronn is provided by the Murgtalbahn, which connects Karlsruhe and Freudenstadt. Bike transport is possible without any problems. The good train connections from Karlsurhe via Rastatt and Gaggenau make the entire Murg Valley a popular destination for day trips. Beautiful one-way routes including a return journey by train are also possible.

Arrival by car

Murgtal is located directly near Freudenstadt, from where you can reach Baiersbronn from the east. From the north, the approach is via Gaggenau through the Murgtal valley. However, the approach from the east from the Offenburg region is particularly attractive, whereby the legendary Black Forest High Road can be incorporated into the journey.
