In the night of Wednesday, October 2, 2013, unknown persons broke into several businesses in the Grenchen industrial area. The bicycle manufacturer BMC was particularly affected, where the perpetrators stole high-quality bicycles and bicycle parts worth over 100,000 francs. They also stole two registered company vehicles - probably to transport the stolen goods, according to the Solothurn cantonal police.

As the Grenchner Tagblatt writes, it is assumed at BMC that professional perpetrators were at work, particularly because the alarm system normally used to protect the building was switched off by the thieves.

In addition, two unmarked delivery vans were stolen from a neighboring business on Sportstrasse. They too were presumably used to remove the bicycles.

During the same period, the nearby vocational training center on Sportstrasse was also broken into. It is still unclear what was stolen. It is not yet clear whether this break-in is the work of the same perpetrators.Call for witnesses
