On her way to the World Cup in South Africa, Katrin Leumann and her colleagues from the Ghost team make a stopover in Nals, the third race of the Italian race series with a strong field. Leumann starts the race well and forms the leading group together with the Italian Eva Lechner and the Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa. However, the reigning Swiss champion struggled and kept falling out of the group. On the penultimate lap, Leumann was able to catch up with the leading duo of Lechner and Dahle again.

The three riders tackle the last lap in the same constellation. With the thought that Lechner and Dahle were tacticking and deliberately slowing down, Leumann increased the pace. In doing so, she prevents the riders behind from catching up. In the following hairpin bends, the two rivals have to let Leumann go. Inspired by this, she concentrated on the final descent without taking any risks and crossed the finish line in Nals a short time later as the winner.

World Championship silver medal winner Manuel Fumic wins the men's race. The German is in the lead together with the Italians Marco Fontana and Gerhard Kerschbaumer. Fontana attacks and is able to pull away. Fumic also attacks and distances Kerschbauer, who is caught by Alex Gehbauer. Meanwhile, Fumic benefits from Fontana's deficit and is able to repeat his victory from the previous year.
