Näf zurück auf der Siegesstrasse

Ralph Näf gewinnt das Hors-Categorie-Rennen in Haiming (AUT) vor Lukas Flückiger und Alexander Gehbauer. Bei den Frauen siegt Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa. Corina Gantenbein wird Achte. Ein Tag zuvor sprinten Michelle Hediger und Sepp Freiburghaus im Eliminator auf Rang zwei.

Five Swiss mountain bikers make it into the top 10 in the cross-country race of the highest UCI category under the World Cup at the Ötztal Mountain Bike Festival, led by Ralph Näf, who is back at the top of the podium after some bad luck due to injury. He rides so convincingly that he distances his team colleague Lukas Flückiger by over a minute. Florian Vogel finished fourth, just six seconds off third place. Fabian Giger and Martin Gujan came seventh and ninth respectively.

Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa won the women's race. She beat the surprising Githa Michiels from Belgium into second place by just under a minute. Third place went to Cape Epic winner Annika Langvad from Denmark. The two team colleagues Corina Gantenbein and Michelle Hediger finish the race in a good eighth and tenth place respectively.

The podium is also doubly occupied by the Swiss juniors. Filippo Colombo from Ticino snatched victory ahead of South Tyrolean Paul Oberrauch. Robin Gemperle was close behind in third place. Dario Thoma, Casey South, Ramon Lauener and Leo L'Homme round off the successful results with sixth to ninth place. In addition, Switzerland had the most riders at the start in the junior category with 24 riders.

One day earlier, Swiss rider Sepp Freiburghaus sprinted to second place in the eliminator sprint race. The Bernese rider was beaten by European champion Daniel Federspiel from Austria. Federspiel's compatriot Gregor Raggl came third. Stefan Peter and Nicolas Fischer also put in an excellent performance with fourth and seventh place respectively.

In the women's Eliminator race, Michelle Hediger delighted in second place. Austrian Lisa Mitterbauer came out of the race as the winner. In fourth place, Jennifer Kupferschmied was beaten by Germany's Lena Wehrle. Corina Gantenbein comes fifth.
