Nino Schurter wird zum Routenbotschafter in Lugano
Snowflakes are still falling in the Alps and Lugano is opening the bike season. The current Olympic champion, multiple world champion and 2018 Sportsman of the Year also knows that the bike season lasts longer here than anywhere else: Nino Schurter. The likeable exceptional athlete is an ambassador and figurehead of the diverse mountain bike region of Lugano. There are 370 kilometers of mountain bike trails to discover around Lugano. And since bike pioneer Thomas Frischknecht won gold at the 2003 Marathon World Championships in Lugano, these have been an insider tip among bikers. The ultimate, fully signposted route is called Lugano Bike 66. "For me, Lugano Bike 66 is the most beautiful route in the south. Grandiose landscapes, perfect trails and a view that keeps you coming back for more," says mountain bike world champion Nino Schurter. The route runs from Lugano via Brè up to the high trail around the Val Colla, to the imposing Monte Tamaro, through the hilly forests of Malcantone to Ponte Tresa. 120 kilometers, 4200 vertical meters in four daily stages - also for e-bikes.
