Trail-Tipp fürs Wochenende: Monte Generoso im Tessin

Keine berauschende Wetterprognose für das Wochenende nach Auffahrt. Am besten und wärmsten ist es im Tessin, und da gibts schon früh in der Saison grosses Trail-Kino, ganz besonders am Monte Generoso. Dieser grosse Trail-Klassiker ist bereits im Mai jeweils bestens fahrbar.

Take the cable car up, then set off on a racy single trail tour. This type of tour is usually only possible from the end of June, when the snow has melted from the trails in the Alps. But in Ticino it is also possible earlier, especially on Monte Generoso. The mountain railroad is in operation, masks are compulsory, but at least it's riding. Bike transport is possible on the cogwheel railroad as far as Bellavista, but you will need your own muscle power for the remaining section up to the summit of Monte Generoso.

The climb is worth it. Firstly, there is the fantastic view of the Lugano lake basin. Then there's the Mario Botta architecture of the cable car's extraordinary mountain station. And above all: the single trails ahead. On these you ride down into the Valle di Muggio, varied, fun, tricky, fast, everything is included. The tour delivers the full mountain bike program very early in the season. Now in May is the best opportunity to tackle Monte Generoso. Maybe this very weekend!
