Cannondale is introducing its very own mountain bike technology to the Gümmeler bike - the Lefty fork takes its place on the narrow-tyred racer. Meanwhile, Sram and Shimano are building on their own standards for disc brakes on road bikes.

In December, Cannondale announced that Peter Denk would no longer be head developer to keep the mountain bike range up to date. Now Cannondale's parent company is announcing that a new engineer is on board who brings a lot of expertise in suspension concepts - one keyword is Rock Shox Pike.

The Cannondale "Jekyll 27.5 Carbon Team" is a lightweight for fast-paced enduro fun. Fast and agile downhill, it doesn't disappoint even on longer climbs.

The F-Si is a brand new race hardtail in which Cannondale surprises with its unconventional approach. The descendant of the F29 is said to be smoother, have easier handling and better traction and is therefore adapted to today's race tracks.

The highlights of Cannondale's model refresh of Jekyll and Trigger are the enlargement of the wheels to 27.5 inches, the new Lefty Supermax in 27.5 inch format and the Dyad suspension strut.

The relocation of Cannondale's production from Bedford in the USA to Taiwan in 2010 came as a bombshell. Now this original US location is also coming to an end, with the manufacturing and testing that still takes place there being moved to the new headquarters in the US state of Conneticut.

With two "Tramount" models, Cannondale presents its first e-mountainbikes. Bosch motor, 29er wheels and a Lefty fork are the key features of the motorized hardtails.

The new e-bikes from Cannondale's Mavaro and Kinneto lines are already available or will reach the stores later in May or June. The electromobile bikes are designed for urban and sporty use.

The Cannondale international racing team has added New Zealander Anton Cooper to its squad, strengthening the team with Olympic bronze medalist Marco Aurelio Fontana, German champion Manuel Fumic and US junior champion Keegan Swenson. Cooper makes up for the departure of Martin Gujan, who will now be racing with Bianchi.

For the 2013 season, Cannondale is showing a completely different side: not only high-tech for adults is in the program, but also mountain bikes for children round off the portfolio for the first time.

With 26-inch wheels, the overmountain trail bike Trigger from Cannondale was already presented as part of the regular media camps. The big-wheeled counterpart has now been unveiled at Eurobike - with a new Lefty fork as the highlight.

Inspired by the "Jekyll", Cannondale is launching the new "Trigger" touring bike, closing the suspension travel gap by 120 millimetres. Like its big brother, the "Trigger" also offers two different rear suspension travels. There is 130 millimetres of travel at the fork and 120 and 70 millimetres at the rear.

The Cannondale models Flash, Scalpel 29 and Supersix Evo are the brainchild of development mastermind Peter Denk. Denk designed these bikes with his team in Freiburg - and this is where the Cycling Sports Group is opening a new branch this summer.

Technically, not much has changed in the "Over Mountain" category with the "Claymore", "Jekyll" and "Scarlet". However, with identical frames, the suspension-rich bikes have been given new layouts and the component mix has been revised.

Although nothing has changed with the "Flash 29er" frame in terms of geometry and technology, Cannondale shows in detail that they are fully committed to the 29er Map.

In the new Scalpel 29er, they have not only adapted the "Zero-Pivot" technology, but have also tried to combine tried and tested features from existing bikes such as the "Scalpel", "Jekyll", "RZ" and "Flash" into one bike. The result is a "Scalpel 29" that is both a trail bike and a race bike.

After two years, Cannondale is once again revamping its full-suspension cross-country weapon "Scalpel". Based on the "Flash" hardtail, an ultra-light and even stiffer frame has been designed. The new "Scalpel Unlimited" weighs 8.4 kilograms, which is 601 grams less than its predecessor. That is unparalleled.

In spring, Cannondale plans to launch the "Claymore", a suspension-travel version of the "Jekyll".

Under the already familiar name "Jekyll", Cannondale is launching a new all-mountain bike. The last time this name was in the range was in 2004 - but the new bike no longer has anything to do with the bike of that time. With completely new kinematics based on a multi-supported single-pivot linkage and an in-house shock developed in collaboration with Fox, the "Jekyll" is intended to be a jack-of-all-trades. With a choice of 150 and 120 millimetres at the fork and 150 and 90 millimetres at the rear, it should be suitable for both a marathon and an enduro tour.

Two big names in their segments are joining forces: The electronics group Bosch has developed a drive for electric bikes together with the US bike manufacturer Cannondale. The public premiere is at the upcoming Eurobike trade fair.

Cannondale announces the signing of Manuel Fumic for the Cannondale Factory Racing Team. The 28-year-old German has been a fixture on the international mountain bike cross-country scene since 1999 and has won many national and international medals as well as world and European championship titles in his eleven-year career.

The US bike manufacturer Cannondale is continuing to restructure: After more than fifteen years, the development office in Allschwil is to be closed. And more people are joining the company at top management level.

Cannondale makes a brilliant comeback and launches the lightest mountain bike of all time. For the 2010 model year, the US manufacturer is launching a new hardtail called the "Flash", which weighs in at just 7.54 kilograms. In the all-mountain segment with 140 millimeters of suspension travel, they are pushing the new record mark to under ten kilograms. At the same time, Cannondale will be dispensing with freeride and downhill models in future.

Bike engineer Peter Denk and his team are now under contract with Cannondale. The German was the brains behind Scott's bikes for many years until the collaboration was dissolved two years ago. Just a few months after Dorel bought Cannondale and Sugoi, the Canadian conglomerate is taking over another company from the bike industry. The latest member of the group is the American accessories manufacturer PTI Sports.

Rize is the name of the touring and all-mountain bike that was presented to the public for the first time at Twoo. It offers 130 millimetres of suspension travel and is the perfect match for the revised Lefty fork with the same amount of travel. The Rize is a supported single-pivot bike whose chainstays are fixed, unlike the Scalpel cross-country fully, and rotate around a main bearing in the bottom bracket area.

A major and important company takeover has been announced in the bike industry: Bike manufacturer Cannondale was acquired today by "Dorel Industries Ltd.". The group, based in Montreal, Canada, is already a well-known name in the bike industry with its company "Pacific Cycles" (GT, Schwinn, Mongoose). Cannondale is to become the flagship of Pacific Cycles. The clothing manufacturer Sugoi, which Cannondale acquired exactly two years ago, has also been taken over. Dorel will put between 190 and 220 million dollars on the table for Cannondale and Sugoi.

The basketball player LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) has bought a minority stake in Cannondale. The size of the stake is not yet known. The 22-year-old James trains a lot on his mountain bike and wants to invest where he knows something about the business.

What is already common practice in the software industry, Cannondale is now also introducing in the bike sport: The update. Until May 31, Cannondale owners can bring their "old" bikes up to date thanks to a frame exchange program. The used mountain bikes and racing bikes will be fitted with a new SI frame by the specialist dealer at attractive conditions.

After the dissolution of the Siemens-Cannondale team, the US manufacturer is returning with a new factory team: together with tire manufacturer Vredestein, they are forming a racing team with Fredrik Kessiakoff, Kashi Leuchs, Peter Riis Andersen and Jakob Fuglsang. After acquiring the clothing specialist "Sugoi", the American bicycle manufacturer "Cannondale" is expanding further into the clothing sector and is entering into a cooperation with the Italian shoe manufacturer "Diadora". The partnership, which begins with the 2006 spring collection, secures Cannondale the exclusive distribution rights for Diadora cycling shoes in the USA and Japan. In Europe, the two companies intend to distribute the cycling shoes under a joint label.

Cannondale takes over the Canadian clothing brand Sugoi. The bike manufacturer wants to play a more significant role in the clothing market.

As Cannondale Europe announced in a press release, US American Jeff McGuane will take over the helm at the European headquarters of the US bike manufacturer in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands, at the beginning of July - from Italian Fulvio Ricciardi, who will be leaving the company after many years. Jeff McGuane is also a Cannondale veteran who started in the bike manufacturer's finance department in the mid-90s and then worked his way up the hierarchy via the sales force and the head position at Cannondale Japan / Australia. As in Japan and Australia, McGuane also wants to work closely with specialist dealers in Europe.

The US bike manufacturer Cannondale is adopting more efficient structures following the financial turbulence at the beginning of this year. This has now led to the deputy managing director Scott Montgomery, among others, losing his job on Wednesday of this week. Montgomery is the son of Cannondale founder Joe Montgomery and has played a key role in Cannondale's development into one of the largest bike manufacturers in the world for many years.

Since Cannondale had to file for bankruptcy protection at the beginning of the year, the investment company "Pegasus Partner" had taken control of the business together with the existing management. This company has now been awarded the contract for both the bike and the loss-making motorcycle production at the auction. Although the future of the latter is uncertain, the bike division will continue to be run by the existing management team led by company founder Joe Montgomery and his son Scott.

Things are looking up in Bedford: After Cannondale USA had to file for bankruptcy protection in December 2002 due to a liquidity bottleneck, bike frame production has been running on the back burner ? and only for the still solvent subsidiary Cannondale Europe. Since last week, full staff have been milling, welding and grinding for all they're worth in Pennsylvania. The new owners of the brand with the "big C" will not be decided until the end of March ? as part of an auction.

Cannondales has published its figures for the third quarter of 2002 and has reported a 20% increase in sales. The reason: the commitment to motorsport is paying off. Bike sales, on the other hand, have stagnated.

With the new "Prophet" enduro bike, Cannondale promises a revelation for dedicated all-rounders. The figures are promising: 14 centimetres of suspension travel at the front and rear invite riders to go harder even on rough trails, while the weight is kept to a minimum. The frame, which is visually reminiscent of the "Gemini" freeride model, weighs just 2400 grams without the shock. Cannondale is no longer just Cannondale: the Cannondale branch in Basel is now also responsible for the Swiss distribution of the two sister brands Schwinn and Mongoose.

Cannondale Bicycle Corporation has announced that it has reached an agreement in principle for a global partnership with Diadora. Diadora is a market leader in the athletic footwear sector. This transaction comes on the heels of the recently announced acquisition of Sugoi Performance Apparel.

Cannondale equips two Afghan road riders with bikes and equipment. "We were very touched by the situation of Taj and Habibullah. Their dedication to cycling impressed us and we are happy to be able to support them" says Cannondale spokesman Tom Amstrong.

The premium bike manufacturer Cannondale is opening its first Cannondale Metro store in Berlin on March 15. The new store concept will be launched in a traditional Berlin address for cycling: in the former premises of F.N.C. Fahrrad, an important contact point for cycling enthusiasts in the capital for over 75 years, the Cannondale Urban line will now be presented in a modern and urban ambience. The owner is Radkom boss Jörg Mehlem, who is the first official German metro dealer for Cannondale in Berlin.

If you ride a Lefty suspension fork from Cannondale, you are just as certain of exclusivity as the astonished looks of passers-by. In return, you have to live with the disadvantages of mounting the bike computer and transporting the bike on the roof rack. Or to be more precise: you have had to live with them until now, because two special parts make life easier for Lefty owners - and are now also available in Switzerland.

Cannondale is celebrating its birthday: the US manufacturer has had its own subsidiary in Switzerland for 25 years. What started out as a small office in Gstaad is now the European headquarters in Basel. And what began as a small import company is now a large marketing and development company that has been offering Switzerland-specific city bikes in its range since 2006.

Cannondale is recalling 800 Gemini bikes due to problems with the frame. Some of the frames have walls that are too thin, which could lead to frame breakage. The recall affects 2002 Geminis 1000 and 2000 and 2003 frames of Geminis 2000, 1000 and 900.

For many years, the "Made in USA" seal was a hallmark of bike manufacturer Cannondale. As a result of restructuring, this era is now coming to an end. In 2010, frame production in Bedford in the US state of Pennsylvania is to be closed and the entire Cannondale production relocated to Taiwan. However, the bicycles will continue to be assembled at Cannondale's headquarters in Bedford.

Rumors have been circulating for a while, but now the US bike manufacturer Cannondale has clarified the situation. Because the motorcycle division proved to be a money-destroying machine, the company is in a liquidity bottleneck 31 years after it was founded. And has now filed for bankruptcy protection under the American "Chapter 11" procedure. The goal: the motorcycle production is to be sold and the still very profitable bike production is to be continued with new capital and changed ownership. The first interested parties are reportedly already lining up...

The Canadian Dorel Group is still on a shopping spree in the bike industry: after GT, Schwinn and Cannondale, the company has also acquired Iron Horse.

For years, most Cannondale bikes have been fitted with "Headshok" brand forks. These don't just need an oversized head tube: the workshop also needs know-how and specialized tools to maintain them - and repair them if necessary. From now on, there is also an official "Headshok" service and tuning center in Switzerland, more precisely in the Pedalerie in Frauenfeld, under the name "Eighty-Aid".

Cannondale announces a voluntary product recall. The affected products include all mountain bikes of the model year 2007 and some of the model year 2008, which are equipped with a Lefty Speed Carbon SL or a Lefty Speed DLR 2 fork. If this is the case with your bike, you should not ride it from now on. Take it to your Cannondale dealer and have it checked there.
