The Davos Klosters region is considered one of the enduro hotspots in the Alps. The access to the trails on no fewer than five surrounding mountains is legendary. In summer 2025, however, one of the most important feeder lifts will be shut down: The lowest section of the Parsennbahn is being overhauled, which is why the funicular to the Weissfluhjoch and the cable car to the Weissfluh summit will not be operating either. A replacement service is not planned.

The Parsennbahn is a key element for enduro bikers in Davos. Trails such as the Chörbschhorn, the Duranna-Run or the Panoramaweg will be less frequented in summer 2025 than ever before. The legendary Bahnentour will also not be feasible in either version.

Thought-provoking announcement: summer is uninteresting

The other summer mountain railroads in Davos Klosters are not affected by the measure. The Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Gotschna and Madrisa will operate without restrictions in summer 2025. However, mountain railroad CEO Vidal Schertenleib is worth listening to in this context: "We basically have too many lifts in operation in summer". In addition, the added value of summer operations is completely inadequate in relation to the effort involved. "Regardless of the operation in summer 2025, we are thinking intensively about the product and the guest segments in summer. After all, despite the wide range of open facilities, guest numbers have been declining since the coronavirus summers of 2020 and 2021. This makes it all the more important for DKB to ensure the availability of the facilities for the winter." The winter season has top priority, Schertenleib continues.

Schertenleib's blunt statements are remarkable and, above all, worthy of consideration in that the Davos Klosters mountain railroads are among the most frequented and popular mountain railroads among mountain bikers - but this love seems to be rather one-sided.
