A small but fine bike mecca has developed near Ilirska Bistrica. One of the top descents here is the trail from Štanga peak directly into the village center.

Description

The tour in Ilirska Bistrica, a hidden mountain bike gem, starts right in the center of the village. From here, the route rides uphill in a relaxed manner on asphalt serpentines, almost reaching the summit of Štanga. The final sections up to the highest point of the tour are covered on an old military road.

At the summit, cyclists are greeted by a historic bunker from the Second World War, which is strategically located at a perfect vantage point. From here, there is a surprisingly impressive mountain panorama that makes you forget the unimpressive height of the summit.

The subsequent descent begins at 1101 meters above sea level and is classified as S1 throughout. It is very varied, with jumps, berms and drops that will make every mountain biker's heart beat faster. The trail leads downhill almost playfully and offers a fantastic riding experience. Shortly before the summit of the Ahac, bikers can expect a small counter-climb of around 150 meters before the second stage of the descent begins. The route then leads back to the village center in a similar manner as before.

This tour is perfect as a half-day tour, especially if you are passing through. It combines a sporting challenge with beautiful natural scenery and ideally ends in the village center of Ilirska Bistrica, where you can round off the day with a relaxing coffee or aperitif.
