Crankworx trägt bald Tiroler Lederhosen
2017: Crankworx on the doorstep
Crankworx is the holy grail of slopestyle mountain biking for many: founded in Whistler in 2004 as a ten-day event for lovers of gravity mountain biking to stimulate summer tourism, Crankworx is now a global event tour with venues in Whistler, Rotorua, Les Gets - and from 2017 also in Innsbruck
.For the Tyrolean capital and the tourism association, this is a coup, as Innsbruck has been positioning itself as the (sports) capital of the Alps for several years and is consistently pursuing its commitment to major sporting events: "Hardly any other summer sports event suits Innsbruck as well as Crankworx. World-class mountain bike competitions paired with a multi-day festival for bike enthusiasts from all over the world - that will inspire Innsbruck. Just as Innsbruck will inspire international athletes and spectators with its alpine flair," explains Karin Seiler-Lall, Director of the Innsbruck Tourist Board.
Getting down to business at Bikepark Innsbruck
"We have long had the vision of sharing our festival with the best mountain bike destinations in the world. Crankworx has been the bike event par excellence for some time, but taking the scene to international locations and connecting fans and athletes there has taken it to a whole new level," says Darren Kinnaird, Crankworx World Tour General Manager.
The four-day festival 2017 will mainly take place in the Bikepark Innsbruck (Muttereralmpark) and other locations in the city. The exact date for the Innsbruck Crankworx spectacle has not yet been set, but June 2017 has been announced for the time being. The exact date for the Crankworx Word Tour will be announced in the course of the fall.
