The four-piston design remains on board with the new Guide brakes and the brake calliper does not look fundamentally new compared to the Elixir and XO Trail brake anchors. However, the brake lever has a new look - also packed with new technology.

New reservoir
When it comes to the reservoir, Sram's engineers have bid farewell to the time-honored Taperbore design and introduced a newly designed reservoir. This so-called piggyback reservoir holds considerably more oil than the reservoir of the Elixir or XO Trail brakes. "TPC Plus" and "Pure" are new designs for the reservoir and the connection between the reservoir and the master piston, so that the brake is not susceptible to air ingress into the system and therefore requires less bleeding.

Less idle travel
For a good feel for the brakes, Sram has added further technologies to the high-quality guide parts. With the Swing Link, a sophisticated lever bearing is used, which should lead to a short free travel up to the rather hard pressure point, but without any loss of braking force modulation.

The pressure point adjustment - now called Contact Point at Sram - is a familiar function, but this adjustment option slips haptically away from the position at the cable outlet to a rotatable ring below the bleed screw.

Three versions
The new stoppers are available in three versions: Guide RSC (375 grams), Guide RS (380 grams) and Guide R (375 grams). More letters mean more adjustment options here - the R stands for grip width adjustment, S for Swing Link and C for Contact Point.

And the brake rotor?
Nothing stays the same with the brake disk either. This disc has a new look, and the new shape - as well as the new brake pad mix - should ensure that the brakes perform without squeaking or vibrating. The sizes available are 140, 160, 170, 180 and 200 millimetres.
