On June 27, 2026, the Bosch eMTB Challenge will make its first stop in Davos. As part of Bike Revolution Davos, participants can look forward to a diverse race designed for riders of all skill levels. Over approximately 35 kilometers and 1,000 meters of elevation gain, the race will test riding technique, endurance, battery management, and trail fun.

With its Trick Check feature, Bosch brings a fresh sense of fun to e-mountain biking and turns riding techniques into measurable performance data. The new feature automatically detects tricks such as jumps, wheelies, and manuals, and provides immediate feedback right on the display.

Not only better acceleration, but also more support: Bosch is squeezing a good deal more power out of the motor via a software update. Since power without control is pointless, the Bosch engineers have also made sure to fine-tune the boost. And these are just a few of the new features in the latest upgrade, which is rolling out to Bosch machines via an update.  

At Bosch, the letter "R" stands for "Racing." And this version of the well-known Bosch CX motor was developed specifically for that purpose. It is available on a limited number of bike models, as it is so powerful that it makes little sense for general recreational use.

The e-bike is stolen - leaving behind annoyance, frustration and financial loss. For thieves, however, it is a lucrative business as long as they can resell stolen e-bikes undetected. This is precisely where Bosch comes in, cleverly expanding the anti-theft functions on a digital level.

With the new PX engine and the powerful CX-R unit, Bosch has already let a few cats out of the bag. But the engine giant has even more in store: the anti-lock braking system for the brakes and the automatic gearshift function have been further developed.

Bosch is launching the new Performance Line PX and wants to get the spirit of discovery going at full speed. With up to 400 percent support, 90 Nm torque and 700 W power, this is exactly the right drive for adventure and trekking tours, according to the Swabians.

With the S18 SWIFT, Nicolai is expanding its electrified S-series with a new top model for demanding big mountain adventures. As a super enduro bike with 180 millimetres of suspension travel, the e-mountain bike sets new standards in terms of downhill performance, motor power and system integration - and also marks the sporty pinnacle of the S series, which was previously represented by the S14 SWIFT trail bike and the S16 MGU all-mountain/enduro model.

The e-mountainbikes are currently in a major showdown. Who has more power, more torque? Bosch is playing in this league with the new CX-R, while DJI has already raised the bar. This raises the question: Where are the limits of what makes sense? And at what point is simply more power a shot in the arm for all mountain bikers?

More torque, more power, more full throttle: after DJI's power plant, Bosch is now also coming out with a turbo motor. The new CX-R delivers 100 Newton meters of torque, a whopping 750 watts of maximum power and up to four times the power assistance. The world of sports cars is thus entering the world of bikes.

Ride was able to ride Bosch's ABS Pro for the first time in fall 2024 on the occasion of the product launch. As the test ride had taken place in the Stuttgart region, the first impression was not relevant for use in the Alps. Shortly before winter arrived, the braking system had to prove itself in the Grisons mountains.

Bosch eBike Systems is ringing in the year with some new functions for the eBike Flow app. For example, e-bikers can start their route in Komoot even more easily in the eBike Flow app and keep a better eye on it on the Ride Screen. In addition, eShift can be used to predefine the gear for starting off.

Batteries in e-bikes are very valuable and cost several hundred euros. This makes them coveted stolen goods - easily accessible, valuable and easy to sell. Bosch is now putting an end to this racket and making stolen batteries worthless.

Scott once caused a stir with the Patron eRide, as the e-mountainbike stood out from the crowd. The new Patron is a little less exciting in this respect, but remains an eye-catcher. With its 150 millimetres of suspension travel, it serves the same range of use as its predecessor. It is also powered by Bosch's Performance CX motor and the 800 watt-hour battery.

It's actually quite simple: full throttle uphill, and a little faster downhill. That's the motto of Flyer's new electric enduro. Of course, the latest Bosch motor is also on board.

The first bikes in the Overvolt family rolled into the Lapierre portfolio back in 2013. The Overvolt AM for 2025 naturally has the brand new Bosch Performance Line CX motor on board. And it promises to retain its character as a playful, easy-to-ride and fun-oriented e-mountainbike.

Santa Cruz is by no means missing out on the Bosch party: With the Vala, the bike manufacturer is launching a motorized racer that benefits from the entire performance leap of the new Bosch Performance CX system.

Bulls, the sporty exclusive brand of ZEG, Europe's largest two-wheeler purchasing cooperative, presents e-mountainbikes that provide plenty of power and possibly even more adrenaline with the latest Bosch motor generation.

With the full-suspension Goroc X, the e-bike pioneer presents a so-called crossover e-bike that can take on any adventure. It goes without saying that the bike is equipped with the powerful Performance Line CX motor from Bosch.

Simplon has caused quite a stir with the e-mountain bike with Pinion motor. The Austrian manufacturer is also at the start of the Bosch news: the Chenoa line is riding with the brand new Performance CX motor. The aim of these bikes is to achieve the perfect symbiosis of powerful e-drive and light weight.

The ABS system for e-bikes introduced two years ago has now been further developed for sporty use and launched on the market as "ABS Pro". Bosch has designed it in collaboration with its enduro racers to offer maximum performance.

The further development of the popular CX motor includes a few new features that are specially designed for riding in alpine terrain. The test ride on the Lenzerheide and the official launch event in Reutlingen provided the first impressions.

Bosch continues to work on ABS technology for bicycles and is now launching the latest generation for trail use with a focus on sporty, ambitious and demanding mountain bikers.

Bosch, the motor market leader, has given its flagship CX motor new genes: it is lighter, quieter and more sensitive. There is also a hill start assist and a new battery with 800 watt hours.

Bosch's current e-bike system comes with new functions on board via updates: for example, you can set how much power you want to arrive at your destination with in the battery. And with TRP and Shimano, Bosch is inviting two gearshift manufacturers to provide automatic shifting.

The 6080 Z from Scor is a downhill bike with an integrated shuttle. The Bosch "Performance Line CX" motor and the 750 watt-hour battery join forces to help propel the aluminum racer with its 180 and 190 millimetre suspension travel, including the rider, to the trail entrance. The bike is available in sizes S to XL and comes with mixed wheel sizes ex works.

A little one really big. This is how the description of the new Bosch "Performance Line SX" motor reads between the lines. Positioned as Light Assist, but with plenty of power under the hood. We recently had the opportunity to take the new drive on its first ride.

The new Cube AMS e-bikes operate with the Bosch Performane SX power unit. The magic formula for trail fun is 400 watt hours, up to 55 Nm torque and still a decent uphill flow. And: The new bikes are visually much quieter than we have ever seen from Cube before.

Intelligent shifting, relaxed riding: The 3X3 NINE precision hub from the Swabian town of Adelmannsfelden makes cycling easier. It is maintenance-free, calibrated for life and completely Made in Germany. The system is now also available with Bosch eShift, an integrated, electric shifting solution for simple, efficient and convenient gear changes. The combination of the Bosch eShift with the maintenance-free 3X3 NINE results in a setup that enables reliable and easy gear changes on city rides as well as on long tours.

Bike theft is so rampant that the first insurers are considering significantly increasing premiums. How can we counteract this? Bosch has a plan that can be implemented on the drive with the Smart System: a digital bike passport can be used to store detailed information about the bike and its owner.

The latest update to the eBike Flow app from Bosch allows the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays to be used as a key to unlock the e-bike in addition to the smartphone. Another new feature opens up the option of deactivating automatic unlocking.

In an interview with Ride in 2015, Bosch boss Claus Fleischer talked about the possibility of combining the motor with the transmission. What has happened since then? The competition is overtaking Bosch. Even at the Light Assist party, the industry giant has long been a mere spectator. If the Swabians carry on like this, there may yet be Kodak moments, says Tobias Gütlin in his blog post.

So far, brands such as Fazua, Mahle, TQ Group and Maxon have dominated the market for light assist drives. However, after some delay, Bosch is now also pushing into this segment, and how: With an e-bike system that rolls out under the company's own Smart flag right from the start and only weighs around 4 kilograms including the motor and 400 Wh battery.

Since Fabien Barel first rode to victory in the 2013 Enduro World Series, the Canyon Strive has had racing in its DNA. A decade later, Canyon brings the electrified weapon for the E-Enduro World Cup Series with the Strive:ON. Made from the same carbon as its award-winning sister model without a motor, it is a thoroughbred e-mountainbike with plenty of propulsion and amazing agility.

Smart System is the name of the latest drive generation from Bosch. This system is set to become even more clever thanks to an update. Navigation is now done via voice guidance and personalization. A parking function helps to find the bike better. And sporty riders can now display their current cadence, power and elevation gain on the Ride Screen of the eBike Flow app.

The e-bike ABS presented by Bosch last year enables safer braking on any surface. And the system is designed to significantly reduce the risk of falls and rollovers. In order to make this safety gain even more accessible, Bosch is cooperating with Taiwanese brake specialist Tektro in addition to Magura.

With the new, free update for the smart system, the physical and digital riding experience continue to merge: eBikers now have the option of adapting the two riding modes eMTB and Tour+ in the eBike Flow app to their personal riding style. Enhanced navigation functions also promise even more individual route planning.

Bosch has added a navigation function to the Kiox 300 display. The extension can be downloaded in the corresponding app and then you can get started with turn-by-turn directions with precise distance information.

Joris Ryf is at the forefront of the e-mountain bike racing circus - on Bergstrom bikes. To keep it that way, the Swiss bike manufacturer is launching the ATV-C 969, an electric racing machine that rolls onto the starting line with the new Bosch Performance CX Race motor.

E-MTB racing is becoming increasingly popular and the needs of racers are growing accordingly. Bosch has recognized this and is launching the CX Race, a drive system designed for racing. As a first test ride shows, it takes a lot of skill to keep the motor under control.

Even more direct support, less weight and limited: Bosch is launching a race edition of the popular Performance CX motor. The motor is designed for racing with e-mountainbikes.

OTB, short for over the bar, is one of the most unpleasant experiences when mountain biking. It can end badly, or ensure that those affected never get on a mountain bike again. Bosch, in cooperation with Magura, is working on a new ABS system. And - surprisingly - Shimano is also launching an ABS system in cooperation with Blubrake. These systems can help to prevent unpleasant descents.

The initial spark came a year ago, and Bosch made it clear with the Smart System that connectivity is the top priority. In its second year, the e-bike system market leader is presenting fresh hardware and software within the new generation: This includes the renewed ABS, a hill-hold function, the long-awaited anti-theft protection, new batteries, a smart controller for the top tube and much more.

Take the Nyon display, the eBike Connect app and an update available free of charge from April 6: the Bosch Smart System will then be transformed into a fitness center and navigation updates will further improve orientation during the ride.

Following the launch of the smart system in summer 2021, Bosch eBike Systems is now making the latest training videos available to specialist dealers. The training videos can be accessed via the Bosch eBike dealer portal and provide a quick overview of the new smart system products. Topics such as DiagnosticTool 3, Kiox 300 on-board computer and more are covered.

The e-bike giant Bosch is pushing ahead with system integration and connectivity: a new app enables over-the-air updates. This also allows the characteristics of the Performance CX motor to be adjusted. A new control unit for the handlebars and a new display round off the innovation offensive. Last but not least, Bosch is also making progress in terms of battery capacity: 750 watt hours are now the new benchmark in the Bosch ecosystem.

Motor, battery, display: these components are actually just command receivers. The way an e-mountainbike rides is significantly influenced by which software container controls the parts. With the Tour Plus mode, the Swabian industry leader is introducing a new level of support that requires a little more effort but should provide more range. But beware: the new mode is only available for one motor variant.
