Even more direct support, less weight and limited: Bosch is launching a race edition of the popular Performance CX motor. The motor is designed for racing with e-mountainbikes.

OTB, short for over the bar, is one of the most unpleasant experiences when mountain biking. It can end badly, or ensure that those affected never get on a mountain bike again. Bosch, in cooperation with Magura, is working on a new ABS system. And - surprisingly - Shimano is also launching an ABS system in cooperation with Blubrake. These systems can help to prevent unpleasant descents.

The initial spark came a year ago, and Bosch made it clear with the Smart System that connectivity is the top priority. In its second year, the e-bike system market leader is presenting fresh hardware and software within the new generation: This includes the renewed ABS, a hill-hold function, the long-awaited anti-theft protection, new batteries, a smart controller for the top tube and much more.

Take the Nyon display, the eBike Connect app and an update available free of charge from April 6: the Bosch Smart System will then be transformed into a fitness center and navigation updates will further improve orientation during the ride.

Following the launch of the smart system in summer 2021, Bosch eBike Systems is now making the latest training videos available to specialist dealers. The training videos can be accessed via the Bosch eBike dealer portal and provide a quick overview of the new smart system products. Topics such as DiagnosticTool 3, Kiox 300 on-board computer and more are covered.

The e-bike giant Bosch is pushing ahead with system integration and connectivity: a new app enables over-the-air updates. This also allows the characteristics of the Performance CX motor to be adjusted. A new control unit for the handlebars and a new display round off the innovation offensive. Last but not least, Bosch is also making progress in terms of battery capacity: 750 watt hours are now the new benchmark in the Bosch ecosystem.

Motor, battery, display: these components are actually just command receivers. The way an e-mountainbike rides is significantly influenced by which software container controls the parts. With the Tour Plus mode, the Swabian industry leader is introducing a new level of support that requires a little more effort but should provide more range. But beware: the new mode is only available for one motor variant.

Bosch eBike Systems gains Nino Schurter, one of the most successful mountain bikers, as a brand ambassador. In future, Schurter will therefore use the e-mountain bike more often for technical training or on rest days, for example.

Bosch e-bikes are not only very popular on the market because of the product itself. The drive specialist also ensures that specialist dealers know exactly what to do when service, repair or troubleshooting is required with well-designed training courses. Dealer training courses will start in 14 countries in October, and a new Bosch specialist advisor is being launched in French-speaking Switzerland.

Ten years ago, Bosch entered the e-bike stage - with great success, as it turns out. The Swabians are using this anniversary to look to the future with a concept bike. This is intended to show where the journey is heading. To celebrate the milestone birthday, Cube, Moustache and Cannondale are presenting anniversary e-bikes in pairs. Mountain bikes play an important role in both the anniversary bikes and the concept study.

Until now, the Nyon display was close to tablet size and therefore simply too large for many applications. In addition, the Kiox display has internally stolen the thunder from the Nyon. With the new Nyon display, Bosch is bringing the device up to date. Special highlight: the touchscreen and connectivity.

E-mountain bikers will soon be riding even more dynamically, agilely and intuitively on trails: The Performance Line CX from Bosch eBike Systems, developed for sporty applications, will receive a comprehensive software update that increases riding fun and safety. The increased torque of up to 85 Newton meters provides extra power.

When it was launched in 2014, Bosch's Nyon display boasted features such as GPS, fitness functions and smartphone connectivity. In the meantime, the Nyon has been somewhat overshadowed by the more modern KioX display. But that could soon change: Bosch is teasing the new Nyon all-in-one on-board computer, which is expected in summer 2020, with a video.

In June, Ride rode the completely revised Bosch motor for the first time as part of the launch. The test ride through the Stuttgart city forest gave us a positive first impression. However, we tested how the new CX performs in alpine terrain at the Verbier E-Bike Festival.

The Performance Line CX motors are widely used on e-mountainbikes and are considered solid and proven. Bosch has now completely overhauled this drive system and is launching a new motor on the market in 2020. We had the opportunity to test it for a few hours.

For the 2020 model year, Bosch eBike Systems is launching a new powerful drive for e-mountainbike use. Its size is almost 50 percent smaller, 25 percent lighter and now delivers up to 340 percent support power. Bosch is also presenting numerous innovations in terms of battery and chassis networking and connectivity.

In the sales pitch for an e-bike, there is one key question: the range. There are myths and misrepresentations surrounding this benchmark - and this is precisely what Bosch wants to take the lead in clearing up. A uniform test standard should ensure that the performance of e-bikes is comparable. The test
has so far focused on e-trekking bikes

At Bosch, the signs are pointing towards digitalization - and that includes the key: the Swabian company is presenting an app that allows locks to be opened and closed via smartphone. Whether and when the system will find its way onto e-bikes is still unclear.

Bosch gives the go-ahead for the market launch of the ABS braking system on e-bikes, forty years after the system found its way into cars. Another new addition to the Bosch portfolio is a new display called Kiox. Fast charging is also an issue: with the new Fast Charger, an empty 500 Wh battery can be charged much faster than before.

Potent drive, intuitive operation and a high watt-hour battery: several providers can do this quite well today. In the highly competitive e-bike market, it is therefore important for specialist dealers to have another ace up their sleeve: perfect product know-how. Bosch taught this knowledge to around 10,000 bike shop specialists in winter 2017/18 - almost 1,000 of them in Switzerland alone - a new record.

An e-mountainbike opens up a new dimension in uphill riding, the steepest climbs are possible with a smile. But the uphill laughter is over after an uphill crash: At full speed, the crank can slam into the ground, resulting in an unexpected drop. Bosch wants to counteract this with new software for short cranks. The walk assist is also getting an update.

The problem of empty batteries on e-bikes should be a thing of the past from this summer. In the next few days, Bosch will be presenting a charger that can be connected to cattle fences.

A glance out of the window shows: The golden October is here. With it, every pedelec rider will experience a few muddy "joyrides". Proper care is crucial. But which cleaning agent should be used for cleaning? How can the battery be protected and the e-bike made winter-proof? Bosch expert advisor Harald Sterzl answers these and other questions on the subject of maintenance.

It charges the smartphone, it navigates, it tracks, it creates fitness data, it lights up and warns of theft: these are just some of the countless functions that the Cobi system tickles out of a smartphone. The company, which was launched in 2014 to take connectivity for cycling to a new level, is now set to roll under the umbrella of e-bike leader Bosch.

Ideal mountain bikers may well turn up their noses when they read about electric bikes here. However, there are topics in this area that will sooner or later also become an issue for non-motorized athletes. Take ABS, for example, which Bosch is now launching. Especially when Bosch addresses how Ride envisions ABS for mountain bikes.

Bosch is now delivering on the promise of flowing uphills: The new mode, specially developed for e-mountain bikes, provides noticeably better propulsion and more control uphill. A short test ride in the Solothurn Jura in eMTB mode made the already wide grin typical of e-mountain biking even wider.

Who would have thought it a few years ago: an update via PC brings a new riding experience on the mountain bike. In June 2017 at the latest, Bosch will introduce a new mode for the Performance Line CX drive, which replaces the previous Sport mode and varies between the Tour and Turbo riding modes without switching.

Bosch, the leader of the e-bike industry, is seeing more and more legends of the sport professing their support for electrically assisted biking. After Gary Fisher, it is now René Wildhaber's turn as a testimonial, in other words as an advocate for watt-boosted trail fun.

He is considered the inventor, or at least co-inventor, of the mountain bike: Gary Fisher. Now the bike coriphée Fisher is fully energized, because e-mountain bikes are definitely "the next big thing" for him. The flowing uphill is at the heart of his enthusiasm for e-mountain biking.
