Nara Tour
Description
The ascent to Alpe di Nara starts at the bus station in Comprovasco and then branches off onto the side road to Leontica. The almost 1,500 vertical meters lead to above the tree line. The gradient of the asphalt road is perfect, however, and so the altitude difference is relatively easy. From the Cancuri mountain station, the ascent leads along a wide alpine path through the terrain to Promesciallo, from where you climb the remaining meters in altitude to Alpe di Nara, where the chairlift also takes you. Here you have a choice: the direct ascent to the Bassa di Nara at the foot of the Mottarone, where a magnificent view extends into the valleys and as far as Airolo. But then it's downhill on a challenging trail over the Croce del Mottarone to the Capanna Piandios, where the routes join up again. Don't be discouraged by the following downhill section over the steep concrete road, as this is followed by the first great section: a trail mix of flowing and technically challenging passages and the subsequent crossing of the Uregn stream over which a narrow suspension bridge leads. Only a few more difficult passages interrupt the flow until you reach Pianezza, after which the Negrentino Trail takes you through open terrain at high speed. In a constant alternation between first-class forest and meadow trails, the route leads past the Romanesque Chiesa San Carlo di Negrentino, which dates back to before the 12th century. From here, the descent slowly draws to a close, but that doesn't mean you should let up. The sections, some of which are quite demanding, require all your senses once again until you reach the main road and the last meadow trails back to Comprovasco.
The same ascent or from Leontica, the chairlift takes you up again, this time to Cancuri, from where you continue under your own steam up to Foppa and on to Alpe di Gualdo. From here the descent begins, initially still rough and stretched. From Garina, the Brüsacü trail is extremely varied and fun, with lots of easy hairpin bends on the way back via Corzoneso to Comprovasco.
Tips:
- The Nara chairlifts only open in July. However, Nara is also worth a visit in spring and offers two attractive tours that can easily be extended.

Wow - a new gem in Ticino! It's called the Nara Bike Park (https://bleniobike.ch/de/4-enduro-strecken-am-nara/). It has had 4 trails since 2024; the Black Wood Line is a built, fun flow trail from the mountain station to the middle station. From the middle station there are 3 really great natural trails (Cancori, Negretino and Brüscaü). Allow about 3 hours for all 4 trails. Be sure to check the operating times beforehand. The cable car only rides at weekends in July and August and only during the first two weeks of August during the week. I was on a Wednesday and alone on the trails.
Van Life Special; you can spend the night at the Leontica valley station in a large parking lot with a view of the valley, the toilets are even open overnight.
From the church in Leontica we pedaled up the little road to Foppa, the sun was already heating up in the morning. From Foppa along the forest road to the start of the Brüsacü trail. First loose gravel, flow through forest and meadows, crisp root passages, tricky stone passages, it has it all. And if your bike colleague rides the car as far as Acquarosso, the descent all the way down is also worth it :)
And then pick up a salami at the local butcher's shop.
Pleasant gradient. Excellent panorama. Cute little villages. Excellent trail, lovingly signposted. A little pearl in the middle of nowhere.

Finally a tour in the Blenio Valley! Although it's a shame to make this insider tip public... ;-)
The tip is such a secret, I regularly ride these trails on my own... ;-)
And there are many more of them!
