Nara Trail-Quartett
Description
The warm-up to the lift station in Leontica starts at the bus station in Comprovasco. From there, you can comfortably take the chairlift over two sections to Alpe di Nara; outside the summer season, you can manage the altitude difference under your own steam. Here you have a choice: the direct ascent to the Bassa di Nara at the foot of the Mottarone, where there is a magnificent view of the valleys and as far as Airolo, or continue directly to the Capanna Piandios, where the routes join up again. Don't be discouraged by the following downhill section over the steep concrete road, as this is followed by the first great section: a trail mix of flowing and technically challenging passages and the subsequent crossing of the Uregn stream, over which a narrow suspension bridge leads. From Pianezza, the Negrentino Trail rides at a fast pace through open terrain. In a constant alternation between first-class forest and meadow trails, the route rides past the Romanesque Chiesa San Carlo di Negrentino, which dates back to before the 12th century. The sections, some of which are quite challenging, once again require all your senses until you return to Leontica after Prugiasco and take the chairlift up again. This time only as far as Cancuri, from where you continue under your own steam up to Foppa and on to Alpe di Gualdo. From here the descent begins, initially still rough and stretched. From Garina, the Brüsacü trail is extremely varied and fun, with lots of easy hairpin bends and a gradual return via Corzoneso to Comprovasco. Once again, you take the chairlift from Leontica to Cancori, where the trail starts just 200 meters after the mountain station. This rides pretty much straight down to Leontica, where you take the chairlift one last time. Once again at the top of the Alpe di Nara, the trail continues northwards near the Capanna Piandios to Sorda, where the great descent back down into the valley begins. The great trail fun ends in Ponto Valentino and you ride comfortably back to the starting point in Comprovasco.
Tips:
- The Nara chairlifts only open in July. However, Nara is also worth a visit in spring. The ascents are usually pleasant and efficient.
- The region is also ideal for a weekend trip

We only did Negrentino and the trail right next to the track. Both trails are ok. However, you ride directly and steeply down the slope without any technical difficulties. The new trail at the upper section is a classic dredged flow trail. As the lower section had a break from 12.30 to 16.30, you are somewhat restricted in terms of making all the descents.
If you are traveling by public transport and have to return to German-speaking Switzerland. From the mountain station you can quickly get up to Bassa die Nara. The descent via Fornace-Matenc-Rossura-Chiggiogna is very good. Up to Alpe Nara it was still a bit rough but for me everything was still rideable and my companions also enjoyed the descent. Especially between 1900 and 1500 absolutely top. From there onwards it was a bit overgrown in places and from Rossura it was a typical Leventina trail with lots of loose stones. But everything is very rideable.
Attention: the cable car has very stubborn opening times and some of them don't even match on the German and Italian websites. So if you're planning to take the cable car, it's better to call or write and make sure! The Brüsacrü is definitely worthwhile.
At the moment it would be very difficult to do the tour in this order with the cable car to Alpe di Nara because the last cable car (only 2nd part) already rides at 11:00. The Brüsacü descent is really great. The trail of the Negrentino descent is hard to find in places.
Can confirm Narilo! Tried the trail section from Nàssera to Surda on 15.08.21. The "path" no longer officially exists and is almost impossible to find. If you are on technical level 4-5, you will be overwhelmed here and will probably be just as "unhappy" as I was. From Surda then fun, bumpy.
Wonderful valley, really beautiful trails with lots of variety!
But watch out for the last part of the route: Capanna Piandios left on trail - Surda - Fisgiora -.... This section requires a lot of riding technique - the bike has to be pushed through many passages and carried over several streams. Next time I would take the road to Surda and rejoin the trail there.
From the church in Leontica we pedaled up the little road to Foppa, the sun was already heating up in the morning. From Foppa along the forest road to the start of the Brüsacü trail. First loose gravel, flow through forest and meadows, crisp root passages, tricky stone passages, it has it all. And if your bike colleague rides the car as far as Acquarosso, the descent all the way down is also worth it :)
And then pick up a salami at the local butcher's shop.
Pleasant gradient. Excellent panorama. Cute little villages. Excellent trail, lovingly signposted. A little pearl in the middle of nowhere.
