La Gugliassa

La Gugliassa

The Val Pellice region is home to countless historic mule trails, as well as roads and paths dating back to the Vallo Alpino era, which over the years have evolved into first-class mountain bike descents. A particular highlight for trail enthusiasts is the descent via La Gugliassa.

Description

The tour starts just above Campi Castello at the junction where the side road meets the paved road. From here, the route climbs steadily—first on pavement and later on gravel—with gentle to moderate gradients. The ascent offers extremely scenic views and passes the impressive Waterfall del Pis on the way to the Cascata di Pra. The surroundings appear wonderfully pristine and captivate with their wild, untouched character.

The route continues toward Rifugio Barant. Via the old military ramp, we climb the western slopes on relatively compact, though mostly grass-covered ground, until we finally reach the turnoff to Sentiero 108 “La Colletta” at a bend. This former military trail leads steadily northward downhill via La Gugliassa. On the descent, the trail proves to be a technical delight on historic paths. The difficulty level is mostly in the S1 to S2 range, with only short sections requiring slightly more advanced riding skills. Otherwise, you’ll literally glide through the dense forests and finally return to the starting point with a big grin on your face.
