Alpenspitz
Description
The tour begins in Weissenbach, in the heart of the Sarntal Alps. From here, the route climbs steadily, first on asphalt and later on gravel, until you finally switch to a cart track at Oberbergweg and then onto a singletrack. Toward the end of this section, you’ll alternate between pedaling and pushing your bike. In terms of the panorama, you’re rewarded early on, as the majority of the route lies above the tree line. Below the Sarner Weisshorn, the traverse begins, leading directly to the Alpenspitz, the highest point of the journey. The view is exceptionally impressive for this region and exudes a touch of genuine “Western Alps flair.”
The descent follows the ascent route entirely. The difficulty level ranges from S1 to S2+, with the trail being somewhat exposed in the upper section. Further along, the trail is very smooth to ride, apart from the hairpin turns. In the Pifank area, you branch off onto the final section of the trail before heading back to Weissenbach via gravel and asphalt. A special note: The tour can also be easily managed with a lightweight electric mountain bike and is the perfect choice for athletes looking for technically challenging uphill routes.
