Colle della Porta
Description
The route starts at Lago di Ceresole, an impressive reservoir that was built in the 1930s. When full, it now blends harmoniously into the alpine landscape and points the way west. The route climbs steadily uphill on asphalt to Lago Serrù, where you turn right onto the old military road.
A perfectly laid out mule track begins here, which continues eastwards to the high trail - also fully paved. This section up to the Alpe della Comba is impressively scenic and finally leads to the Colle della Terra. The view here is simply breathtaking: countless peaks, far-reaching views - a first-class experience, especially in autumn.
The first descent starts at Colle della Terra. Peppered with hairpin bends and technically varied, you are in the S2 range before the trail gently descends to Lago Lillet. This is followed by the ascent to Colle della Porta, the highest point of the tour. At almost 3000 meters above sea level, the vegetation has almost disappeared - you almost feel like you're on the moon: a karst landscape of rock and scree dominates the scene.
Now the second part of the descent begins. Over challenging paths with difficulty levels ranging from S2 to S3 in places, the route descends steadily past a few mountain pastures and hamlets until you reach Colle Sià. But even here it is far from over: the trail remains challenging - technical, rocky, with high concentration on line selection.
The trail becomes somewhat gentler as it continues. Through sparse larch forest and over flowing passages, you approach the finish before the tour ends again at Lago di Ceresole - an epic finale to a tour that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of riding technique and scenery.

Super nice tour!
After the Colle delle Porta, some parts of the military road are unfortunately destroyed by rockfalls - scrambling over is no problem, just takes much longer than you would expect from the map or the track...
