Collserola Outback
Description
The starting point is the Esplugues de Llobregat district of Barcelona, not far from the university quarter. From here, you head up a paved, rather quirky but pleasant zigzag path to Club Ciudad Diagonal. The first singletrail descent awaits as soon as you warm up. This leads north past the Turo de la Tina. You have already left civilization and, above all, the hustle and bustle of Barcelona far behind you. The rather short descent is followed by an asphalt ascent to the road that rides over the whole of Collersola. We will encounter this road several more times today.
A short stretch of road later, the next trail descent begins at the Col de les Torres. Initially fast and super flowy, the road shows a few teeth further down. But everything is great to ride. And: not a soul here. In the meantime, it's a short stretch on an asphalt road up to the summit of La Soccarada, where the descent continues. A fast, fun and varied path leads over the ridge and ends at a gravel road. This gravel road takes us back to the Collserola road around 200 meters further up. Initially, the gravel road climbs pleasantly, but then it becomes bitterly steep for a while. Here, everyone wishes they had an even smaller gear! Back on the road, you pass a church (there's a restaurant here for the hungry) and a few meters later you turn left onto the next trail, which rides down steeply and crisply. It becomes more flowy at the bottom before you reach a gravel road and follow it downhill. Now you could follow this downhill to the final trail or go one better, climb a little higher and take a crisp singletrail with you. Both options lead to the great final trail, which rides through countless twists and turns to the village of Molins de Rei.
Now it's time for the return journey. To do this, we follow the Collserola road, which we know well from further up, for quite a long time. For a change of pace, you bypass the Turro d'en Serra on a trail northwards, then take the road again for a few meters until you turn left into the ascent to the Turo de Can Pasqual. This is the starting point of a first-class singletrail descent that takes you back to the road. If you are tired, take the road for the section up to the transmitter antenna, but you will regret it bitterly in terms of the trail. The reason: the upcoming singletrail below the road is a special kind of fun. It rides along the heights to Club Ciudad Diagonal, from where you climb up a steep gravel road to the transmitting antenna. While you have seen very little of Barcelona so far, here you have a super panoramic view of the city and the FC Barcelona football stadium in the immediate vicinity. A rough and steep singletrail now leads back into the city and marks the end of a great singletrail tour.
