West Collserola

Collserola (Barcelona)

Some of the city's best trails are hidden on the western side of Barcelona's local mountain, Collserola. Here you can immerse yourself in a region seemingly far away from civilization - but very close to the city center of the metropolis.

Description

The route starts with an asphalt ascent up to the western Collserola foothills with a great view of the city center. The ascent is made a little steeper by a steep gravel section, but then it becomes more moderate again and you soon reach the viewpoint, where the first singletrail descent awaits. The path winds downhill smoothly, fun and varied and after a few metres it seems as if you have left civilization behind completely. The trail rides down in this way to the valley floor at San Just.

Here it's time to chain left! Climb back up to the Collserola hill on an asphalt road past the tennis club. A short descent leads down to a small reservoir before climbing up to the Turo de Castellvi from the north - the starting point of the next great singletrail descent. Initially, you follow the gravel road for a while until a trail branches off to the left. This is a flow machine that takes you back to the road that you previously climbed up to from the tennis club.

The next step is to dive deeper into what feels like no man's land. To do this, follow the road a little to the north, but then turn left into the fun singletrail descent. Out of Nowhere! The wonderful trail leads to a gravel road, which you follow up to the summit, where the flowing and lonely downhill fun continues. It's hard to believe you're so close to a big city!

The way back up to the Collserola road begins, which you have now passed several times. Shortly before you reach the road at Col de les Torres, you're already on the next singletrail - which begins with a climb. This is short-lived, however, and then it's back to fast flow fun. A short counter-climb on gravel is also included, and so we find ourselves back at the tennis club. This time, however, instead of ascending on the road, you take a gravel road. The reason is the single trail that turns off to the right. This trail hugs the slope with gentle ups and downs and is an excellent high-level trail that ends just below the transmitter antenna. This is the starting point for the final descent. It goes up on a gravel road and down on a crisp trail bouquet with great views of the city and the legendary FC Barcelona football stadium. Conclusion: One of the best tours around Barcelona when it comes to trails!

Tip: Just below the tennis club is the Can Borrell restaurant with Catalan specialties. It's well worth a detour.

A real top tour! The ascents are beautiful and fast, the descents very varied. You can easily get lost here too, as there are so many trails.

The tennis court is currently being renovated and is not recognizable as such.
