Forcella Bella

Forcella Bella

There are several interesting trail combinations around Monte Rite, or rather in the Piave Valley. The Forcella Bella lives up to its name, offering an exciting combination of scenic beauty and technical downhill riding.

Description

The tour begins in Forno di Zoldo. From here, the route follows the SP347 paved road, which generally has light traffic, steadily uphill. Even during the climb, exciting views and varied sections open up time and again all the way to Passo Cibiana. At Passo Cibiana, where the Rifugio Remauro offers a good spot to rest, follow the gravel road to the right and continue uphill to Forcella Deona Copada Alta. You’ll then have to push your mountain bike through a dense spruce and larch forest before crossing the scree slopes below Cima Sfornioi Nord—outside the tree line—to reach Forcella Alta. There, you’ll need to push your mountain bike again in some spots. With impressive Dolomite charm and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, you finally reach the highest point of the tour, Forcella Bella. From here, a superb view of the area’s striking peaks opens up.

The descent from Forcella Bella—rated S2 depending on the chosen ascent route—proceeds at this pace down the scree field. You then continue in a cross-country style up to Forcella delle Calades and, from there, in sections rated S1—with occasional S3 passages—along the ridge back to the starting point, a very inviting trail descent. It’s especially interesting in the fall, when the larch forests change color and the views are clear.
