Marmelete-Trails

Marmelete (Algarve, Portugal)

The small town of Marmelete, not far from the Portuguese surf spot of Aljezur, has a lot of great trails to offer. This route combines all the lines in the region.

Description

The starting point for all singletrail descents is a hill not far from the Picos transmission tower. A small, paved road rides up here from the village of Marmelete, which is the Zubrginger route for each of the five descents. The order in which you tackle the descents is up to you. The three trails directly back to Marmelete are very flowy and fun, wonderfully developed by locals. The descent on the north side is more challenging, with a few tricky sections and steep sections, and above all you have to ride back uphill on a gravel road. Last but not least, there is the descent from the transmitter mast down to the road. This is challenging and rough in places and sometimes a little overgrown due to the vegetation.

Overall, the route offers a lot of trail fun and variety in a small space. The quality of the trails is outstanding, which is why Marmelete has become a small MTB hotspot in southern Portugal for good reason.
