Massaciuccoli-Trails
Description
From the village of Massaciuccoli, which lies right on the lake, you ride along the narrow road to Quiseo and continue uphill on asphalt to Chiatri. This is where descent number 1 begins: a smooth S2 trail that, a little further on, turns into a gravel road leading over to Colle Paradiso. There, you climb again on a narrow paved road, this time to the hamlet of Monti di Chiatri.
Just below the village, descent number 2 begins—another fun S2 trail that’s beautifully laid out. The trail ends in the village of Maggiano, where you switch sides of the mountain. You climb up the opposite side, initially on asphalt again, later on gravel through olive groves, and finally on a rideable trail that is somewhat steeper in one spot. Immediately after this trail turns into a gravel road, the next trail branches off to the right, leading back to Maggiano at S2 difficulty. This completes descent number 3.
For the final section of the tour, follow the main road for a short while, but then branch off to the left at the highest point of this small pass and climb up to Villa Paolina.
Just below the estate, a trail begins, followed by a short section on a gravel road, until finally a fun and varied trail (i.e., descent number 4), including a few short uphill sections, leads to Al Sasso. This cluster of houses is located right next to the starting point, Massaciuccoli.Map & GPX-Track
