The Millstätter Hütte on the southern slopes of the Kamplnock high above Lake Millstätter See combines good food with a varied trail descent and impressive panoramic views.

Description

The tour starts in Millstatt directly on the northern shore of the lake. From here, the route initially rides steadily uphill on asphalt along the official cycle route. Later, the surface changes to gravel and you gain around 1300 meters in altitude to the Millstätter Hütte of the Austrian Alpine Club. With its classic shingle roof and regional Carinthian specialties, the hut marks the highest point of the tour. From here, you can enjoy excellent views across Lake Millstätter See towards Villach and the Carnic Alps to the south.

The descent is very varied. A mix of difficulty levels from S1 to S3 ensures continuous riding fun. Up to the gorge section, the trail can usually be ridden smoothly. At the gorge section, a no cycling sign indicates the current legal situation. Whether you choose to ride this section towards Schwaigerhütte is your own responsibility. If you decide to do so, you will be rewarded with a technically challenging trail at difficulty level S3, occasionally S3+, which has several striking key sections.

Afterwards, you return to the Millstätter See Trail and follow some historical paths, including the old Schwaigerbergweg, directly down to the main road. Finally, you ride past the Millstätter See golf course, take a short trail cut to the lakeshore and return along the shore to the starting point.
