Parque Natural de Jandia
Description
The route starts in Costa Calma, from where you first ride on a little-used asphalt road almost to the opposite side of the coast at La Pared. At a kind of pass, you keep left and roll downhill for a few meters on a small road until the sandy road through the nature park begins again on the left. This is generally good but exhausting, but there are always a few sandbanks where you have to push. The conditions can change constantly due to the wind. However, the sandy road is also used by many 4WD vehicles and is therefore pleasantly compact in many places. In this way, you roll up and down through a fascinating, completely unspoilt and wild coastal landscape. Bright yellow sand at the top, then the steep, dark cliff edge and the blue-white surf of the Atlantic below. You ride through the area in this way for ten kilometers - a highlight, even if the tour only leads over a road and not a single trail.
At the very end, the bike has to be pushed up a bit to a pass in order to roll down a gravel road on the opposite side through a rugged bush landscape to the surfing beach at Risco del Paso. We now return to Costa Calma on the sandbank and later on gravel roads. Conclusion: The tour is a natural spectacle that you absolutely have to experience. Ideally in light winds, otherwise the tour could become a tour de force.

An MTB highlight" is that supposed to be? Not at all! The opposite is the case. Pure biker frustration when the bike has to be pushed through 95 percent soft sand from km 8 to 18.6 (situation January 2025).
A week of biking on Fuerteventura may be an experience, but Tenerife is much more enjoyable for MTB fans.

I was able to ride through practically everything on my tour back then. But sand has the property that it can be displaced by the wind. It's quite possible that the conditions on this route are very different. But you're right, there are better trails on Tenerife. But on Fuerte (in contrast to Tenerife) I didn't come across any prohibition signs...
