Passo Cercen

The counter-clockwise loop via Passo Cercen is primarily intended for experienced touring cyclists and all-mountain mountain bikers who prefer scenic highlights and long climbs.

Description

The starting point is located in Val di Sole near the tranquil village of Malé. From here, the route initially follows a combination of gravel and asphalt along the main road, heading steadily north to the small village of Piazzola. The scenery becomes more and more charming with every passing meter. With moderate to steep gradients, you head toward Malga Cercen Bassa and eventually push your bike up the final meters from Malga Cercen Alta until you reach Passo Cercen at 2,623 meters above sea level.

The view of the Ortler Group and the surrounding mountains is truly breathtaking. With a challenging ascent of nearly 2,000 meters in elevation, this tour is also an outstanding athletic achievement. The descent rides directly west from the pass and ranges in difficulty from S1 to S2. In the upper section, above the tree line, the route offers a high-alpine atmosphere amidst massive mountain formations.

Further down, the trail becomes increasingly easier, eventually turning into a cart track and joining the bike path directly in Cogolo. On this path, you can ride leisurely along the Torrente Noce back into the Val di Sole to the starting point in Malé. A quick tip for those looking to conserve energy: To shorten the tour, you can take a shuttle service to Piazzola, which significantly shortens the route.
