Passo Cercen – Schmugglerwege
Description
The tour begins in Val di Rabbi, near Rabbi Fonti. In this relatively narrow valley, you get straight down to business. You pedal steadily uphill on gravel, past Malga Cercen Bassa to Malga Cercen Alta. From there, you push your mountain bike until you reach the pass, which sits at just under 2,600 meters above sea level. There, you’re rewarded with a magnificent view of the Ortler Group and the majestic mountain landscape of the surrounding area.
Then the real fun of the descent begins. In the upper section, you first follow the ascent route—with difficulty levels ranging from S1 to S2—toward Malga Cercen Alta. After a short climb to the next alpine pasture, you reach a beautiful high-altitude trail. This trail winds steadily along the slope with varying difficulty levels and connects the different alpine pasture areas. The path is quite challenging in places and dotted with wooden structures, steps, and small staircases. As a grand finale, the route leads through dense coniferous forests before, after this magnificent conclusion, it winds leisurely along the Torrente Rabbies back to the starting point.
