Stuttgart Stadt-Trails

There are some interesting trails on the outskirts of Stuttgart. If you combine them in series, you get a great MTB route right on the outskirts of the city.

Description

The starting point is the Degerloch district, which can be reached by the famous rack railroad with its large bike platform. In Degerloch, you don't have to wait long to get started on the Woodpecker Trail with its bike park character. This takes you back to the valley floor of Stuttgart, from where you now crank up to the Waldfriedhof. Numerous trails dominate the section to Waldeck, after which we head up to the university campus via side roads. A fast S1 descent now takes us down to the Neuensee and Bärensee lakes, where we transfer to the impressive Solitude Castle. The area below the castle includes numerous trails, in our case the version down to Stöckach takes center stage at first. A little later, you roll over to the forest aisle below the castle, where the next trail begins. This descent ends just above Wolfbusch. Now you climb up to the Botnang region on gravel roads. Shortly before you reach an asphalt road, the great downhill trail starts, which has been given a flowy makeover by local mountain bikers.

From Botnang, you climb up to the Birkenkopf region, with a few flowy trails on the upper transfer section. At the foot of the Birkenkopf is the start of the next downhill trail - which has also obviously been worked on by local mountain bikers. Finally, you climb up again, take another few nice trails on the transfer section and finally head into the great final descent, which is now in the S2 segment, while all the other trails before were in the S0 to S1 range. The trail leads down to Heslach, from where you roll back to the city center on bike paths.

Conclusion: The route is a great combination of the most important trails in the Stuttgart region that are regularly ridden by mountain bikers.

Note: The tour is located in Baden-Württemberg with the legal requirement of a two-meter rule. This tour contains elements that do not comply with this regulation. Rather, it reflects routes that are ridden by local mountain bikers. Compliance with the regulations is the responsibility of each individual mountain biker.

Did the tour yesterday 11.10., but as a round trip from Gerlingen. Without the bike shuttle up to Woodpecker, approx. 48km, approx. 1300m.
The tour didn't include any difficult trails, there were no closures, so it was a great combination of trails and transfer routes. I was really surprised and can recommend the tour, the Stuttis can bike!

The trail from the Birkenkopf is currently closed with a cord. There are alternatives in the area, but you have to look for them :) Greetings from Stuttgart.
