Thumsee

At Lake Thumsee, just east of Bad Reichenhall, there are numerous fun trail options. One particularly rewarding combination starts at the idyllic Thumsee lake.

Description

The starting point of the tour is the idyllic Thumsee lake. In a varied mix of gravel paths, trail sections and short stretches on the main road, you climb up to the Höllenbach parking lot. From there, the route continues uphill on gravel until you reach the start of the Plattsteig trail above Weissbach - the first trail section of the tour. The Plattsteig trail has a difficulty level of S3 and offers technically challenging terrain. An additional trail section finally leads down to a small road along the Stabach.

The route continues uphill on asphalt until shortly after the end of the pavement, the route turns into another trail - initially slightly uphill, then always following the ridge and finally downhill. The difficulty here is between S1 and S2. Finally, you come back to the gravel road from the initial ascent. Now follow this in the opposite direction to the Höllenbachalm. The long and challenging Höllenbachsteig trail awaits as the crowning finale. This trail runs continuously at difficulty level S3 and rides back down to Lake Thumsee with challenging passages and an alpine character.
