Heersberg Supertrail

Heersberg-Trail

The Heerberg is located near Albstadt and offers one of the best single-track descents in the Swabian Alb. In this version, it’s incorporated into a fantastic loop route with plenty of trail riding, including the Lochen Trail on the opposite side.

Description

From Lautlingen, you gain elevation on a small road heading south toward Autenwang and immediately reach the first fun singletrack leading to Messstetten. The fun is short-lived, however, as you’ll then need to transfer to Hossingen and the area near Heimberg. This is followed by several first-class S1 trails before switching to small roads leading to the Hülenbuchwiesen plateau. Here, you branch off onto the path that runs along the ridge, offering occasional superb views of the Lochen Pass. This is where the Lochen Trail begins, descending to Weilstetten. Although the trail is solid, the finest art of trail building hasn’t been carved into the forest floor here. Furthermore, the path—which is sometimes a bit barren—proves to be somewhat unstable, especially in wet conditions. Nevertheless, it remains the most sensible and attractive option for reaching the valley and crossing to the opposite side of the valley.

The highlight of the tour is the return ride from Frommern to Lautlingen. To do this, you tackle the climb to Bergfelden on an easily rideable trail and reach the ridge trail to Heersberg. This is a joy to ride, but it also includes the occasional short, steep climb. The ascent is particularly steep right at the summit of Heersberg. Technically skilled e-mountain bikers can ride all the way to the summit. Now the highlight of the day begins: The final descent is varied, twisty, fast, rough, and extremely smooth. It offers a successful mix of different elements, with a difficulty level in the S2 range. The route leads down to the outskirts of Lautlingen, marking the end of a varied and trail-oriented Alb tour.

Note: The tour is located in Baden-Württemberg with the legal requirement of a two-meter rule. This tour contains elements that do not comply with this regulation. Rather, it reflects routes that are ridden by local mountain bikers. Compliance with the regulations is the responsibility of each individual mountain biker.
