Himmelseck
Description
The tour starts in Immenstadt in the heart of the Allgäu and is challenging right at the beginning with a demanding climb. From the start, the route climbs steeply uphill on a road to Seifenmoos. This is followed by an intermediate descent on a gravel road to the lower Eck-Alpe. From there, the route continues uphill past the upper Eck-Alpe to Himmelseck. Once you reach the ridge, there is a single trail that follows the course of the mountain westwards. This trail offers a constant up and down with a great panorama of the Allgäu Alps and the Alpsee lake.
A charming serpentine trail finally leads down to the Weißach valley floor. Here the surface changes to a steep gravel road, which serves as the basis for the ascent to the Hündlekopf. A rooty path awaits on the back of the Hündlekopf, which rides down to Hinterstaufen.
From Hinterstaufen, the tour rolls along the northern shore of the Alpsee to Bühl. The last section leads back to Immenstadt on cycle paths. This section could be spruced up with a climb to Salmaser Höhe and a passage along trails on the ridge towards Bühl. This variant is described in the tour "Konstanzer Tal".
