Retterschwanger Trail-Runde
Description
The mountain bike tour ideally starts in Altstädten near Sonthofen, but can also easily be started in Sonthofen or Bad Hindelang. From Altstädten, the first section rides along a road up to the Straußberg Alpe, where you can take a break to recharge your batteries for the next section. From the Alpe, the route continues on a steep path to the Straußbergsattel. Once at the top, bikers can expect an exciting descent to Mitterhaus on a technically challenging and bumpy single trail.
After this descent, you reach Retterschwanger Tal, a real natural gem of the Allgäu with its untouched landscape. Here you roll downhill, staying on the right side of the valley and following a gravel road that turns into a beautiful single trail. This nestles against the wooded valley flank and eventually leads to Bruck.
The route continues on small roads past Bad Hindelang and then climbs via Imberg to Strausberghütte, from where you reach the lovely western flanks between Sonthofen and Fischen again. After a short descent and a stream crossing, there is a steep climb on the opposite side, which soon leads into a familiar little road that is already known from the first ascent of the tour. You now roll downhill in the opposite direction to the original route before turning off on a trail towards Altstädter Hof. This section is easily manageable with an e-bike, but without motor support it is a strenuous struggle.
At the Altstädter Hof, which offers refreshments, you have the opportunity to fortify yourself for the final descent to Altstädten. This descent is a mix of trails in the S1 to S2 difficulty range, occasionally also S3, and is interrupted by short sections of gravel road. However, it is a great end to a varied mountain bike tour that can offer pretty much all facets.

Would be a great round if there weren't so many gates to overcome. At least 8 gates. I did the tour on an e-bike. In my opinion, the tour is an S3 in terms of the difficulty of the trails.
