Marschnellalm
Description
The first part of the tour is quickly explained: it goes uphill. The start is in St. Walburg, followed by a 550-metre ascent on an asphalt road and then another ascent on a gravel road. Overall, however, the ascent to the Marschnell Alm is pleasant because the gradient is even and moderate. This changes for the last few meters up to the ridge slightly above the Marschnell Alm. The trail is steep and rough. E-mountain bikers with good riding skills can ride this section, while everyone else has to push their bike for a few meters. But it's worth the effort, the view from the ridge into the Ulten Valley is fantastic.
The second act of the tour is about to begin, the descent to Steinrast. A windy trail leads down to the Riemerbergl Alm (a lively mountain hut in the style of a witch's cottage), before turning right onto the path to the Kühberg Alm. This trail is a splendid piece of terrain, but always leads uphill in a strenuous and easy way. E-mountain bikers have a clear advantage here. Once you reach the Alm, it's back to downhill fun. A first-class trail leads downhill along the gravel road, but soon you keep right again and reach the formidable single trail to Steinrast. Caution: The last section is quite challenging, but can also be bypassed on the gravel road.
On reaching the Steinrast, the third act of the tour begins. You roll along a gravel road to Sankt Moritz on the southern flank of the Ulten Valley. It's worth stopping for refreshments at the local inn (here you'll find perhaps the best dumplings in South Tyrol), before descending along the crossroads in serpentine mode. The last section back to St. Walburg leads along the Sunnseitenweg trail, at the entrance to which there is a no-biking sign. Such a ban makes sense in the high season in July and August. If you are out and about before that or in the fall, you can consider civil disobedience with a clear conscience to finish off the tour with a super trail.
Note: Many mountain bikers head directly downhill from the Riemenbergl Alm (Sentiero 4). This mixture of trail and cart path is a good choice for less technically experienced mountain bikers, but in terms of trail fun, the route via Steinrast and Sankt Moritz has more to offer.

Certainly a brilliant tour. We will be hiking and biking in the Ulten Valley at the end of July.
We know the inn in Sankt Moritz mentioned in the text from the winter and it can certainly be recommended. Unfortunately, there was a fire there recently and the inn is currently closed (early June). Hopefully they can rebuild. It would be a shame.
