Description

From Prata Camportaccio, the southern neighboring village of Chiavenna, you climb uphill on a small road to the alpine settlement of Monte Pradella. Here there are many small rusticos scattered across an extensive meadow area. The descent begins at the lowest houses and is rough at first. The further you ride downhill, the smoother the route becomes. At Stoveno, you pass the ascent road and follow the trail unabated downhill. Again and again you pass old, partly dilapidated houses, cross the ascent road again far below and reach the village of Prata Camportaccio at the bridge on the upper edge of the village.

Tour ridden on July 27, 2023 with my Cannondale Habit. Crisp ascent on asphalt. Then after a short unrideable passage down from the edge of the village many varied trail minutes. Many rideable stone steps in the lower part. Nice after-work tour or as a recovery from a tougher tour the day before 😊.

Chiavenna is beautiful and worth a visit, but you can save yourself the trail unless you love steps.
