Nordpfälzer Tour
Description
At the beginning, you ride on asphalt from Schopp and then take a forest path and a trail descent to the Pfälzerwaldhütte Schmalenberg. This is followed by a longer ascent below the Hardterkopf. We cross the district road 29 to ride back into the terrain above Schopp (past the sports facility). After a longer ride on a forest road, we come close to Wilenstein Castle. Here you have the opportunity to take a short detour from the tour described and visit the castle. Later, we come to Bartelsberg and continue along the Kottelbach stream to the Sägmühlweiher pond. We ride along a wide path and short, flowing trails to Johanniskreuz. This place is well known as a meeting point for mountain bikers. A longer break is recommended here, for example at the House of Sustainability.
From Johanniskreuz, we ride past the Antonihof via the so-called Geburtstagsweg. The path is easy to ride and runs along the slope, initially undulating, then descending and meeting the L503 country road, which we follow for a few meters. We then cycle past the St. Blasius zu Aspach church. After a short ride on the country road and a narrow path, we continue riding past the Aschbacherhof and the Horst forester's lodge in the immediate vicinity of the small, tranquil village of Stelzenberg. This is followed by a long, flowing trail starting in Finsterbrunnertal. After crossing the B270, we ride through the Hammertal and Schweinstal valleys to Queidersbach. Now it's uphill again on a beautiful path, through dense forest towards Krickenbach. A beautiful trail challenges us briefly before we ride back along a side road past the Ländlerhof farm towards our starting point. We then ride below the Eichköpfchen on a narrower path and then on asphalt back to Schopp.
