Mountain bike tour in untouched nature with incredibly long single trails and an idyllic ride through the heart of the Palatinate Forest.

Description

We start at the train station in Waldfischbach-Burgalben. After a short ride through the town, we ride uphill past the Galgenfelsen rock (which you can climb up a few steps) into the adjacent forest. There, we first follow a forest road, then a steep trail further up. The reward for the ascent is a wonderful up and down trail through the open forest. We then ride along forest roads for longer, close to the hut of the "Jäger aus Kurpfalz", before returning to a long trail, first downhill, past the Hergottsbrünnchen and then repeatedly peppered with short climbs, to Heltersberg. Here you have the option of shortening the tour and riding the loop back to Waldfischbach-Burgalben: the singletrail section is then more than 50 percent.

The whole tour is ridden by crossing the village and turning directly into a downhill trail. We head downhill on tight bends before taking another narrow trail uphill. We cross the main road and continue along the cycle path and through the forest on a wide path through the Schwarzbach valley to Johanniskreuz. There, we can take a break and enjoy a bite to eat in the nearby restaurant.

After a short section of road, we head straight back onto a flat but fun trail. Now we cycle comfortably through the forest again, the forest path is longer before we turn off onto a challenging, rocky single trail that takes us directly to Camping Sägmühle. The trail is challenging and has higher ledges that challenge your riding technique due to the soft sand. We continue riding on a sandy path back to the main road before reaching Schmalenberg. After passing through the village, a steep downhill awaits us and then another climb on a narrow path. We cross the village of Heltersberg again. The following kilometer-long trail is a delight: a constant up and down brings us back onto a wide path, only to turn off again shortly afterwards onto an entertaining trail. This leads to the three rocks. We come to a panoramic viewpoint with a view of the town of Waldfischbach-Burgalben. We then ride downhill, first on the trail, then on the road back to the starting point.
