The turbulence in the bike industry shows no signs of abating: Canadian bike manufacturer Rocky Mountain is seeking a financial restructuring to secure its long-term operations and stave off insolvency.

Rocky Mountain is expanding its e-bike range with the motor-assisted Instinct Powerplay SL. Powered by the fresh Dyname S4 Lite motor with a peak output of 550 W and a torque of 65 Nm, it is set to set new standards in its class. With customizable geometry, precisely tuned suspension kinematics and MX compatibility, the Instinct Powerplay SL delivers a well-rounded overall package.

It is simply synonymous with the cross-country bike: the Element from Rocky Mountain. According to the latest version, the bike can even perform a balancing act between high efficiency and technical precision. On board is a new rear triangle that can do away with a ball bearing and more than 350 grams thanks to flexing carbon struts.

Rocky Mountain is attacking with a new enduro bike: The Altitude is almost unrecognizable. The shock is no longer located under the top tube, but slides down to bottom bracket height. The Canadians gained experience with this design back in the noughties. And, of course, packed a good portion of further innovations into the Altitude.

From all-day adventures to technically demanding singletrack, the new Instinct is a trail bike for all occasions.

The Slayer has been part of Rocky Mountain's portfolio since 2001 and it marked the beginning of the freeride movement. And it's always been a bike that's made for the steep downhill, but can also be pedaled uphill. The latest generation remains true to this tradition, with 180 millimeters of travel and plenty of reserves on board.

Since 2001, the Slayer at Rocky Mountain has been responsible for the really rough stuff: big mountain descents, freeride stunts, park shredding - in other words, anything that doesn't say Enduro on it. With the Slayer à la model year 2020, Rocky Mountain has a clear motto: Freeride is not dead!

If you want to introduce the next generation to their favorite sport, it is advisable to do this almost casually and playfully. Also recommended: good equipment. If you want to open up single trails as a playground for the kids, you can take a look at Rocky Mountain's Reaper bikes. A carbon frame is light, stiff and usually beautifully shaped, but it is not ecologically harmless and is also a good deal more expensive than aluminum.
