Mont Raimeux

Mont Raimeux

Mont Raimeux is Moutier's local mountain and offers a variety of crisp, flowing and, above all, unknown single trails.

Description

From Moutier station, the first part of the tour takes you past Jura villages to Crémines, where the steep ascent towards Mont Raimeux begins. The mountain road leads directly to Raimeux Crémines. From here, the route flattens out and you pass the Raimeux Grandval to the viewing tower on the summit of Mont Raimeux. This is the starting point for the beautiful ridge trail, which finally merges into the southern flank of Mont Raimeux. Now you have to climb a few more meters until the sensational path over the Combe de la Hue and Combe des Geais rock bands begins on the left after the Raimeux Crémines. As soon as a gravel road is reached, the final bouquet down to Moutier begins with a wonderful serpentine trail.

We rode the route on rather long 29" E-Fullys. The tour is quite fun. The first section is rather leisurely and the second part, the descents, is fun. At the end, we had a bit of trouble with the hairpin bends because of the long bikes. The tour is recommended.

The first part of the tour (ridge trail from Mont Raimeux) is certainly something for connoisseurs and bikers from the flow fraction.
The second part down to Moutier has two or three key sections that are also a bit technical.
Overall, the tour is certainly rated too high in terms of difficulty. However, the views of the magnificent landscape make up for the effort of the ascent all the more.

A fine and playful tour with an almost endless single trail along the mountain ridge!

2 tips nevertheless:
There are always bikers with over 2 bar in their tires ? ... they get shaken mercilessly on these rough trails ... 1.6 bar tubeless and that's really fun.

At the highest point of the second ascent at point 1096 Swisstopo there is an almost invisible turn-off to the left into the pasture and later into the forest ... flowy :-)

A rewarding tour! We cycled it today and really enjoyed the landscape and the trails/paths. We repeatedly encountered hikers on the Mont Raimeux. But we passed each other well and the atmosphere was always friendly. After the second ascent, we didn't meet any more hikers or bikers. The trail is not a great challenge, but it is beautifully situated and varied. It rides over the rocks along the slope. There is always a reason to stop for a moment and look into the distance before getting back on the trail. I will certainly be back in the area!

I rode the tour on 7.05.2020. The approach to Crémines is almost exclusively on tar, after that it gets really steep but easy to ride. Up to the observation tower it's almost all tar again, but the view from there is great. The ridge path is okay, although a little rough in places and not too flowy. Nevertheless, it is almost 100% rideable, which cannot be said for the opposite direction.
Then it's back up on tarmac until the descent to Moutier begins.
This descent is great, with flowing sections alternating with technical passages and a few hairpin bends at the end. This descent is certainly one of the highlights of the region. P.S. It's best to keep to the right across the meadow after the Combe des Geais.
I ride a Scott Genius Ultimate and am usually in the head group uphill; downhill I'm always the last one, at a distance.

The good news first: the final descent to Moutier really is first class. To say that the rest of the route is one of the best the Jura has to offer is simply an exaggeration. The super-steep ascent on the gravel road to Raimeux is not really fun (regardless of whether you have 11 or 50 gears). The Cretentrail is okay, but definitely nothing more. The rest of the descent leads over long stretches either on paved paths or over pathless meadows (woe betide you if it's swampy). Overall, not a really good tour and certainly not worthy of being praised in a glossy magazine.

And yes: the only thing the GPS track has in common with the tour in the hardcopy is that it takes place on the same hill...

The route from the Ride (hard-copy version) goes along the ridge path from east to west with a descent on the north flank. However, this does not make much sense. This descent is mostly on forest roads. The current GPX route published here goes along the ridge from west to east. This makes sense, as there is a slight gradient in this direction. I rode the first ascent to Reimeux via Cremins as described in the booklet (quite a tough climb, but certainly no tougher than the one in the current GPX track).

The hairpin bend trail from the east end of the Raimeux down to Le Grand Ramboden is steep and slippery in wet weather and a waste of altitude anyway (although there is probably no alternative descent). The ascent then follows the northern flank of the Raimeux.

The hairpin bend trail from Raimeux to Moutier is really great, but some downhill meters are also ridden on forest roads.

After reading the report in the magazine, I wanted to download the track. But now I am very surprised, the tour described in the magazine is completely different from the track here in the tour portal. Which is the correct route?

This is really very tedious. Also the bike technique requirements are not the same. Please post the correct route.

Now Ride has revealed my favorite solo route...
The steep little road up from the south side via Corcelles is long even with a triple crank - at least in the summer heat. The ascent on the north side from Delémont via the road to Courroux is more pleasant and not enormously longer, then on dirt tracks to Rebeuvelier and then behind the campsite up a cart track (the eastern one) to the tower. There is a short brutal ramp and a few moderately steep sections; in addition, a little-used cross passage over fences (past the "Auges" stable) is barely recognizable in the grass. This approach leads through paradisiacal orchid mats at the top in spring, and there are also Turk's cap lilies under the edge. Please leave them all; they are protected!
On the southern flank, you can also occasionally see chamois if you drive calmly (;-).
Incidentally, the pub at Raimeux de Crémines is open most often (see www); the one at Gressins Dessus is open from time to time (short detour up from the flow trail), the one near the tower at Raimeux de Grandval is unfortunately closed.
If you don't like the scenically spectacular but sometimes busy Birsschluchtstrasse at the end: ICN, IR and S-Bahn trains ride between Moutier and Delémont; you can also see the Raimeux rocks this way.
