Baisse de Détroit Supertour
Description
From Colmars, you climb a good distance up the small mountain pass road toward Col de Champs. Along the way, you pass the Ratery station at 1,700 meters above sea level and continue climbing slightly until a singletrack branches off to the right in a left-hand switchback. This trail is marked as part of the Transverdon Route and leads down as a wonderful singletrack into the Bressenge Valley, which ascends to the Lacs de Lignin. The ascent takes place entirely on easily rideable singletrack. Only one section is slightly steeper; there, a few mountain bikers may need to push their bikes for a short distance. With an e-mountain bike, the entire ascent is easily rideable. This route takes you to the stunning Lignin Plateau, where you’ll feel as though you’re far away from civilization. A fantastic backdrop, but the climb isn’t quite over yet. There are another 200 meters of elevation gain to the Baisse de Détroit, still on trails and still easily rideable, apart from a few short sections.
The Baisse de Détroit is the starting point of the spectacular descent on the west side of the pass. At first, the trail winds somewhat ruggedly through a scree field; afterward, you keep to the right and ride across phenomenal plateaus, past whimsical rock formations, all the way to the Plateau de Pisse-en l’Air. Now you leave the open terrain and dive into the forest on an S1 trail. You’ll ride down quickly and smoothly to the Baisse de l’Orgéas, where the next spectacular section begins. A solid, though at times somewhat bumpy, trail leads through steep and open terrain down to Ondres. This small mountain village is the starting point of the final super trail, which begins just below the village. A top-notch S2 trail leads down to the valley floor near Beauvezer, from where you ride five kilometers back to Colmars along the main road.

It really was an amazing tour! We did it in early August 2026. It’s worth noting that some sections are a bit exposed—which actually makes it even more fun…
