Bonnet Vert Supertrail
Description
The ascent from Barcelonnette is easy to explain: it follows a gravel road up the forested southern slopes. If you want to make it a little easier on yourself, take the paved road to Bouzoulières and join the standard route from there. Along the way, you’ll cross the trail you’ll later descend on, and after a long traverse, you’ll reach a gravel road that winds its way up to the Cabane de Belmont, which is unstaffed.
From here, a trail leads you over to the start of the Bonnet Vert Trail. The upper section of this trail offers a fast and smooth ride, with frequent views of the wild surroundings. Eventually, you’ll cross the ascent route but will now follow the trail downhill. From here on, the trail is marked as an official mountain bike route and offers top-notch downhill fun. This very rideable trail (S2) ends at Le Bourget, from where you roll back to Barcelonnette on a side road.

A challenging climb on gravel, followed by a trail at its best. Truly a great trail!
If it says “Supertrail” on it, then Ride really does have a Supertrail! Starting at Cabane de Belmont, the trail winds its way through the countryside—trails at their best!
