Feldberg Flowtrails
Description
The tour begins at the Oberursel-Hohemark subway station on Line 3. Those who do not wish to make the climb to the Grosser Feldberg on their own can take Bus Line 57. Up to two bicycles can be ridden per trip. From May through October, the Weiltalbus (Line 245) is also in service, which features a large bicycle trailer. This allows you to ascend to the Sandplacken, located just below the summit of the Grosser Feldberg. Those who prefer to tackle the elevation gain under their own power should first follow the Ursel Stream and proceed along traffic-free gravel roads all the way up to the summit.
The Grosser Feldberg marks the starting point of the Schoppen Trail on the northern flank. This natural and, in places, rugged path serves as the entry point to the flow trail combination. After a distance of 1.7 kilometers, the trail ends just above Oberreifenberg, after which you must climb another 120 meters in elevation to reach Windeck. There, the first section of the Feldberg Flow Trail begins—a varied and fluid path designed with numerous structural elements. This section also stretches over a length of 1.7 kilometers and ends at the Waldgasthof Fuchstanz.
A short transfer section on a gravel road leads to the second section. This section features a significantly steeper gradient, which goes hand in hand with a higher density of turns. Over the 1.4-kilometer stretch, riders cover a total elevation loss of 150 meters. Finally, another short connecting section leads to the third part of the flow trail. This section is much flatter again and, with a length of 600 meters, serves as the perfect conclusion to this 4.5-kilometer-long flow trail series.
By the way, the flow trails are operated by «Wheels over Frankfurt».
