Gaflei

The Gaflei Trail in Vaduz has long since become a mountain bike classic in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. The descent in Liechtenstein offers crisp singletrail fun very early in the season. The route is particularly recommended in foehn weather.

Description

From Vaduz, head straight from the town center up to the castle and ride a few metres further on the road to Triesenberg. A forest path soon branches off to the left, which turns into a single trail after a few meters of altitude. Follow this trail uphill to Antenne and Alp Erbt and ride on towards Rotaboda. From here, a small road begins up to Alp Prufatscheng. An intermediate section on an easy singletrail takes us to the road to Silum, the highest point of our tour. From here, we continue on a flowing single trail and a short stretch on asphalt to Alp Gaflei, the starting point of the actual descent. A technically challenging trail takes us 600 vertical meters through very steep terrain, past the Wildschloss castle, back to Vaduz.

Alternatives: Ascent on the asphalt road over the Triesenberg to Silum

Very cool. You can take bus 21, which rides daily from Vaduz Post to the Masescha junction in Triesenberg in 17 minutes to 1,100 meters and then you only have to climb 400 meters and that's even on a paved road. So you're quickly at the clinic and then at the Gaflei tower. The trail is great in the fall, lots of hairpin bends, but it's great fun! Riding technique 3.

Big bike ban :-(

Meanwhile, there is a bike ban at the start of the trail in Gaflei....

Tip for the region: Posti takes bikes with him!

The Gaflei descent can be wonderfully combined with the tour to the Pfälzerhütte. From Vaduz via Steg, past the Valüna Alp to the Pfälzerhütte. From there there are 2 possible downhill routes. We have chosen the route via Malbun. (Technical singletrail) Back in Steg via the Sücka mountain inn and from there along the singletrail to Silum and Gaflei. The result is a wonderful day tour with a guaranteed great descent to Vaduz.

Best regards Dani
