Heitihubel
Description
From Thun, the tour rides along the Veloland route to Wimmis and into the Simmental valley. As far as Oey, however, you follow the single trail along the Simme instead of the cycle path. At Oey, you branch off to the right, reach Latterbach and then climb up via Allmede to Obers Heiti. There are 800 vertical meters to conquer before the descent begins below Mattealp.
This rides as a challenging singletrail through the steep terrain to the Lasihütte and then in the forest - again a bit steeper - to the Chratzhalte-Graben. Finally, you reach the little road near Reutigen and ride via Zwieselberg to Allmendingen and back to the center of Thun via Allmend.

Beautiful half-day tour. As has already been written, the last part of the ascent has been destroyed by the cows and is no longer rideable (approx. 10 minutes on foot). The first half of the descent has also seen better days. Heavily washed out and with many loose stones, the trail is no longer very flowy and not so easy to ride. But it's still a lot of fun.
I rode the trail on 25.04.2020. The first section of the hiking trail from the Heitihubel Alpine dairy to Alp Mattehubel (start at point 1502) is barely rideable - completely trampled by the cows. It is better to take the tarred road a little lower down. This is followed by a steep but very beautiful trail to Reutigen. If you like it steep and a bit technical, you will - like me - have fun! The trail to Reutigen is in very good condition.
Thanks for your update, Chrigu! Always good to know the current slope status :)
The ascent is rewarded by a beautiful view of the Simmental. The alpine cheese dairy at the top sells fine cheese. The descent is challenging in the upper part. There are high steps in steep passages. I don't know how to brake here. A less experienced rider can quickly run out of fun in this part. I also descended in parts. The lower part is fine, you can take it easy there. I started in Reutigen to skip the flatter part of the tour.
As a shortcut, the ascent could also be made via the tarred road from Reutigen. The descent is fun, but the riding technique is certainly rated too high at 4 out of 6. Except for a few places, it's more like 3 out of 6.
