Monte Colma
Description
The tour begins in Rossiglione in the Stura Valley, located just north of Campo Ligure. From here, you briefly follow the main road and then the Via Valle Berlino steadily uphill until you switch to a gravel path near Valazza. Take the access road, or Karnweg, toward Bivio Berlino. The path then joins a hiking trail or singletrack. Follow the ridge traverse, which climbs steadily at first and later leads through undulating terrain to Monte Colma. At 857 meters above sea level, Monte Colma is the highest point and lies directly on the border between Liguria and Piedmont.
At this point, the descent begins heading north. With difficulty levels of S3 and, in sections, S2, the route descends steadily to Piazzale della Colma. For this region, the descent runs mostly on gravel and may be eroded in places following heavy rain or other weather events. You then reach a feeder trail, which you ride in a cross-country style with some ups and downs on gravel toward the Bardotto Trail. The actual descent is rated S2 and is popular with many mountain bikers, as the line choice here is specifically designed for mountain bikes. The Bardotto Trail runs directly along the rock face and offers impressive scenic views as it descends toward the Torrente Stura. Once in the valley, follow the Strada Provinciale del Turchino back to the starting point.
