Monte Reixa

Monte Reixa is one of the highest peaks in Beigua National Park. It stands out for its ridge descent and the subsequent trail combinations, making it one of the longest trail combinations in the area.

Description

The starting point is located just west of Genoa, near Voltri. Right by the harbor, a paved road leads away from the hustle and bustle, climbing steadily with moderate gradients until it eventually meets the panoramic mountain pass road. Even here, on a clear day, you can enjoy breathtaking views stretching from Genoa toward La Spezia, across Corsica, all the way to Ventimiglia. The ascent on the pass road is pleasantly steady and continues a short distance toward the Passo del Faiallo. From there, you’ll ride part of the way and pedal the rest of the way up the final meters to 1,183 meters above sea level until you reach the summit of Monte Reixa. In terms of views, you are literally “on top” here, looking out from the Western Alps over the Monte Rosa massif to Corsica and the entire Ligurian border range.

Then the descent begins. An interesting mix of trial elements and trails rated S2 and S3 follows, requiring concentration and riding technique. In between, very smooth panoramic sections break up the terrain. The route continues in this vein to Passo Crocetta. Just below the Rifugio Argentea mountain hut, which impresses with its striking masonry, you follow a traverse toward Passo del Gava. Due to the risk of falling, this section includes a few sections where you’ll need to push your bike. The rideable sections range from S2 to S3. From Casa della Gava or the Gava Pass, the descent becomes smoother, leading to a true flow section that takes you to the groomed trail sections below Bric Cravo. Finally, you cover the last few meters to the Torrente Lerone and its mouth where it flows into the sea. The tour ends on the main road and continues along bike paths back to the starting point.
