Monte Reixa

Monte Reixa

The enduro tour over Monte Reixa, followed by a descent south toward Arenzano, offers a perfect combination of a long climb and a technically challenging descent with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Description

The route begins just east of Ca' Nuova. From here, you gain elevation at a leisurely pace on paved roads as you pass through the southern slopes with their typical Ligurian charm along a narrow road. The first major stop is Forte Geremia, at an elevation of 806 meters above sea level. Here, an impressive view already awaits, although there are still a few meters of elevation to conquer before reaching the actual summit. Continuing toward Passo del Faiallo, follow the two-lane paved road uphill until you finally switch to the hiking trail at the picnic area, which leads directly to the summit of Monte Reixa at 1,183 meters above sea level. A small metal cross marks the highest point, which, on a clear day, offers a sweeping view of the Mediterranean Sea and the striking Ligurian mountain ridges.

The descent begins in the upper terrain, where you roll down the first few meters over the Passo Saiardo toward the south. Here you already encounter the first key sections, which are classified as S3 in difficulty. From the Passo della Gava, the technical challenge continues, with flowing sections regularly alternating with rocky sections. Classic scree fields and technical transitions characterize this section, which is still above the tree line and thus guarantees unobstructed views.

Further along, the descent joins the so-called Sugarsu Trail. This path—partly man-made—winds downhill toward the coast via tight switchbacks and skillfully placed engineering structures. This section requires absolutely dry conditions. In wet weather, riding is not recommended due to the risk of erosion and limited traction. The tour concludes with the arrival at Vesima Station on the coastal road, from where you can leisurely ride back to the starting point along the bathing bays.
