Monte Fasce near Genoa rises up strikingly through the aerial landscape. On its southern flank, it offers a varied trail descent over old mule tracks and very technical intermediate sections.

Description

The tour starts east of Genoa in the former fishing village of Vernazzola. From there, the route runs on asphalt through urban areas and continues along the panoramic road towards Monte Fasce. The views are spectacular in places and you quickly gain altitude until you reach the parking lot at the top of the pass. From here, the road becomes steeper for a short time before you reach the summit with its striking aerial landscape. Once again, the maxim is confirmed: where there are transmission masts, the view is good. In this case too, on a clear day, the view extends as far as the Western Alps, across to Corsica and over the entire Ligurian coast.

The descent begins on a serpentine path created by mountain bikers. You then switch to an old mule track, technically moderate with difficulty levels S1 to S2. The trail then leads onto the ridge trail, which is no compromise with a difficulty of S3 to S4. The trail leads over Monte Moro, past numerous old bunkers, and finally ends back in Vernazzola. On this section, rear wheel offset is almost mandatory in many places. After the bunkers, the trail becomes somewhat more homogeneous and finally leads into urban areas. The return to the starting point is via side roads and along the coast.

Conclusion: A technically demanding tour with magnificent views - only recommended in dry conditions.
