The experience begins at kilometer zero. In the middle of the old town, we board the historic funicular that takes us from the Zecca valley station up to Righi. The district lies 250 meters above the vibrant city center - characterized by old villas, gardens and a view of the sea. From here, the "second floor" of Genoa, we roll northwestwards on narrow asphalt roads into the Ligurian hinterland.
The surface soon changes: real trails and narrow gravel roads ride steadily uphill. At an altitude of around 600 meters, we reach the summit of Monte Spino with the old fortress of Fratello Minore. This is where the real fun begins: a technical enduro trail winds its way across open meadows, accompanied by spectacular views of the entire Ligurian coast. After the first downhill, the trail traverses the flank of Monte Spino in a crisp up and down before spitting us back out onto the familiar gravel road.
The next destination: probably the most spectacular fort in the region - Forte Diamante, enthroned on a 667-metre-high hill. A characteristic zigzag path leads up to the top, which is even fun for e-mountain bikers. Once at the top, a magnificent panorama opens up again - towards the coast, the harbor and far into the Ligurian mountains.
What follows is a never-ending ride over the best enduro trails in Genoa. Behind the Forte Diamante, an ultra-steep loop leads back to the main path, from which a rooty, partly built trail leads directly onto a ridge. There, the centerpiece awaits: Mantide - a four-kilometre-long dream trail that stretches spectacularly over the ridge almost to sea level.
In San Sebastiano, after a short asphalt section, the route climbs once again. The last four kilometers are reserved for motivated organic bikers or experienced e-mountain bikers - with passages that have to be pushed or carried. But once you reach the top, everything is forgotten. The grand finale leads in a winding trail explosion high above the harbour back towards the old town - a rapid descent between views and adrenaline.
On arrival at the bottom, there is only one thing left to do: end the day with an aperitivo in one of Genoa's many bars - looking back on a tour that combines the city and mountains in an impressive way.

An amazing ride with incredible views of Genoa, the surrounding coastal region, and the ancient fortifications (fortis). In our opinion, the trails are in good condition (no thorns or brush). The descent from Forte Diamante is steep and rocky in places, but a dream for experienced riders. For the final descent from Forte Begato, there are also easier alternatives (trail forks) if you want to finish the tour with a bit more flow.
