Sella di Monte Cordona

Sella di Monte Cordona (Genua)

The ridge descent from the Sella di Monte Cordona on the historic paths is a varied and long trail variant on the coastal area around Genoa.

Description

This scenic tour begins in the small town of Sori, right where the Torrente Sori flows into the Adriatic Sea. First you pedal steadily uphill on asphalt, with a pleasant gradient, to Case Cornua. There you meet the Strada Provinciale del Monte Fasce, which - as the name suggests - leads along the ridge towards Case Cordona or Sella di Monte Cordona with an impressive panorama.

The trail descent also begins right here: partly technically demanding with loose stones, slabs and gravel, partly a mule track that is easy to ride. At difficulty levels S2 to S3, the trail follows the course of the ridge down to the transition zone between natural and residential areas. Caution is advised, especially in wet conditions, as the combination of earth and loose rock quickly becomes slippery - dry conditions are recommended.

In Serra di Cantalupo, you switch to the Via Santa Maria Maddalena trail, which is varied - partly unpaved, partly paved - and leads directly towards the coastal region with a difficulty level of S2. In the lower section, the route winds above the Parchi di Nervi along small side roads and the coastal road back to the starting point in Sori.
