Monte Tugio
Description
The route starts in Recco, a small coastal town on the Ligurian coast. From here, the route initially rides on asphalt through the urban and densely populated area, following the SP333 towards Borissa and on to Uscio. The ascent is a real scenic highlight - the higher you get, the less traffic there is.
In the area of Colle Caprile, you cross a pass and finally leave the asphalt road. This is followed by a steep uphill on concrete, which turns into a partly impassable path - this leads towards the Cannon Trail. The first trail descent begins below Monte Serro. This leads in partly washed-out terrain with varying degrees of difficulty between S1 and S2 towards Uscio.
The following uphill is very cross-country-heavy and rides past an abandoned hotel to the Passo della Spinarola. From there, the bike is pushed along the ridge to the highest point of the tour - Monte Tugio. The view here is magnificent - as is the subsequent trail descent. Technically, this is between S1, S2 and in places S3. The trail rides back along the ridge and from the Passo della Spinarola via a challenging cross-country mulattiera trail past Monte Bello towards Monte Ampola. The difficulty remains essentially at S1 and S2.
A rather unspectacular traverse awaits at Monte Ampola, which is particularly recommended in dry conditions. This is followed by a descent with difficulty levels between S2 and S3 to Monte Esoli and on towards Ruta. In Ruta, you return to the populated area, where the descent consists of an alternation of concrete steps and small trail cuttings that wind their way through the southern slopes. Above the picturesque harbor town of Camogli, a side road is crossed - and finally the tour ends back in Recco.

Great tour. In rain & wet conditions the difficulty increases exponentially.
